As a driver, it’s vitally important to drive safely and respect the rules of the road. A radar/laser detector will help even the most responsible drivers avoid costly tickets by alerting you of nearby radar or laser detection systems, including upcoming speed traps. These systems can detect the full range of police radar or police laser systems used, including X, K, Ka and other common bands. Many of the most popular systems offer GPS features, allowing you to tag “red-flag” locations or even increase/decrease the sensitivity based on your current location. More advanced systems offer the ability to block or scramble the radar or laser signal. While these are extremely effective systems, they are also illegal in many areas, so you should check your local laws and regulations before installing one of these systems. Many law enforcement agencies have employed VG-2 radar detector detection systems, which basically identifies vehicles with radar detectors by searching for certain frequencies emitted by the unit. Some systems will alert you and shut down altogether in the presence of VG-2, awhile others will shield the detector while offering continued radar/laser detection. Spectre technology is similar to VG-2, but covers a larger spectrum, making it challenging to protect against.
