Replacing Clarions that lasted over 5 years. The Clarion tweeters dry rotted, but the boat stays uncovered on saltwater year round. The mx650's have slightly more thump in bass, but otherwise basically same sound as Clarions. Not an exact bolt pattern match, but good enough where I didn't need any patchwork. Hoping to get same or longer use out of JL's. JL's have best grill available for a high performance speaker that looks great on a saltwater boat while not looking like it belongs on a 15 year old's wakeboard tower. Grill and speaker housing are built rugged and have withstood kicks and cooler bumps. So far after 6 months into it, this is a clear case of you get what you pay for, and I would definitely buy again.
