The reason your sub blew is because you underpowered it. When you underpower a sub, and when you hit hard and loud, the amplifier cannot put out as much as the sub can handle. Thus instead of a sine wave, the waveform cuts off like a square waveform and this is more damaging to the subwoofer than overpowering it. I am looking at purchasing this sub because I have the alpine mrp-800, which is rated at 800rms with 1500 peak, meaning it should be a perfect match and not overpower the sub.

I like these a lot! they have pretty good sound (especially for the price ) i have 2 of there hooked up to a Hifonics HFi2000D and i love it! i have them at 2 ohms each. make sure to give them around a week or two to turn them up loud as for any sub. they vibrate my whole car even if its up half way :) make sure when your screwing them to your box that the drill isnt too powerfull because one of the screws went right through when it was supposed to stop. i would definitely recommend this to my friends or anyone that loves bass!

Had this speaker hitting pretty good for about a month. It was being run by my Alpine MRP-500 at 300rms at 4 ohms and it blew a voice coil now it just makes a buzz sound. The rms on this speaker is supposed to be 800 but couldn't even take less than half
