I bought a set of these and 6x9s for my Mazda 626 and hooked them to a punch 400-4 amp with a Sony Xplod HU. These speakers seem to distort on most music at moderate volume. The mids over power most of the music and gives an empty feeling to the music leaving you wanting more upper mids. The highs sound superb however they could use a bit more volume and the bass was excellent in the 6x9s but only in rap. I replaced these rfs with pioneers and was much happier with the overall clarity and added bass, not to mention I paid full price in an audio shop and for half the cost walmart pioneers sounded much better. I still have to replace the 6x9s and the screaming mids back there are a little unpleasant but sorta blend with the bassy pios.

I spent hours on this site meticulously dissecting each and every 6 by 8 inch coaxial speaker in which this site offers based on reviews, and contrary to my kicker roots, I decided to choose these Rockford Fosgate P1683's because they were so highly rated. I installed within the first hour of their arrival and was bracing myself for face cringing loudness. I was sooo dissatisfied. The lows that these speakers provide became better over time, but the mids seemed flat and the highs were ear splitting. The factory head unit in my f250 probably takes away some of the potential performance from these speakers; I'll just have to see what improvements can be made with a Pioneer 4300. If I was in the position of buying these speakers again, I would stop, do more research, and closely examine which speakers have the most to offer.
