This is an excellent car radio for the price. Nowhere can you find a deal like this in Canada. The only thing I don't like about it is that you have to press the display button to view the time every time you're listening to the radio/mp3. Other than that, the sound quality is great. The transaction and delivery itself was very easy and I would definitely do business with them again. Thank you!

I am a broadcast engineer, but not an audio geek. I wanted a stereo for my beater car that would be good enough to listen and check my radio stations. This works, and it gives me a sense of how my stations sound on an average radio. Seems reliable so far.

This radio has been in my F-250 work truck 6 months and has performed very well. Doesn't skip playing CD's or MP3 disks except for the most bumpy roads. Has some nice features- like Local/Dx for the tuner. Sounds good with the stock speakers. Only thing I don't like is the AUX input doesn't seem to work that great- maybe it's just mine- I tried two separate cables- have to turn the volume up loud & get a lot of hiss- I quit trying to use it and instead burned some MP3 disks which work very well.

This is the best double DIN head unit I've ever seen under $200. It looks good, has great features, is super easy to use. So far, it's been super reliable! Oh, btw, you must use its specific iPod cord; you can not plug in through USB or any other way.

This is a good replacement radio. I installed it into my 01 superduty and it's been working great ever since. Only issue i had was the install. For my install i had to grind/shave the opening for the install kit and radio (two different areas) to fit. The radio fits inside the dash, but leaves no extra room, meaning it will slide in and out but has to be just right to get it in. Radio isn't as loud as i hoped but functions perfect. Still a great buy for the money.

I have had this stereo for over 4 months now and wanted to revise my previous review. At first I was rather underwhelmed by the plain appearance of the unit, but since then it has really grown on me.

In the time I have used it, this has turned out to be a really good stereo. Once you get over it's quirks, the stereo works great and actually sounds pretty good.

One of the best features of it's plain / OEM appearance is theft deterrence. No, it's not audiophile quality, but it's a good stereo for the price.

If you are looking for a simple, yet quality double din deck, then this is the one. Wish it had Bluetooth, but for the price, its hard to beat. What I really like is that the green lighting matches well with my 97 Buick, so it looks very oem! You can also change to red lighting. I have always liked the quality of Eclipse.

Great value for the money if you want an inexpensive upgrade to USB/MP3 capability. Perfect if you want a simple OEM look and find the styling of most aftermarket units too gaudy. The only thing I don't like is how you have to hold your finger on the tuner button to seek the next available station. Pity as well that it doesn't have a "scan" function, which is why I give only 3 stars for ease of use.

This deck is a good deck. Not great but it fills the gap in my dash and it is a great deal on a good deck. Of course to get a great deck your going to spend 3x-4x this much. Has good features and the aux input is great. One superb thing is that it doesn't get all flashy and hard to decyfer the screen like most other double din units. Install was to be as expected except the spot in the dash for my 98 maxima was slightly taller so some modified trim gap fillers were a must. Looks great after that.

September 24, 2011 Good Bang-for-your-buck head unit...

I bought this head unit due in large part to of a lack of iPod connection in my OEM unit. The price was right and it looks like it could be a stock unit -detering it's theft factor.

Only complaints I have would be that the AM channels are not as clear as they were previously, lack of steering wheel controls and iPod connectivity. While it does get the job done, it is easier to find what you are looking for on the iPod, start the album/playlist/song and then plug it in.

Other than that, Eclipse makes a great unit and I've been happy with it.

The stereo has good connectability for MP3 players & USB (connected my pc). However, if I could get my money back I would. There is no equalizer. You can only adjust high/medium/lows. This may not be an issue to others, but it is huge to me. If however, you are looking for the least expensive doube din, well this might be the one. Also, while not ugly, it is not attractive either, actually looks OEM. Not for those wanting to pimp out or upgrade stock.

I bought this to replace my Matrix' factory stereo after its display began to fade out. Not only did the Eclipse red lights match the interior but the stripped-down design blended right in. There's nothing I hate more than a gaudy "sci-fi" look to modern car stereos. It sounds great and offers a ton of flexibility (AUX-in, USB-in, iPod cable connectivity). A perfect buy in my opinion.

My only gripe is the display text for MP3 ID3 tags take up two rows of the available space and scrolls very slowly—so reading it is a major pain in the ass. Also, media is listed alphabetically with no way to "skip" or "scan" faster than scrolling through the ENTIRE alphabet A > Z. No big deal for a couple of files but try navigating an iPod with hundreds of tracks, artists and albums! YIKES!

I would higly recommend this deck!! You get all the features you need (MP3, ability to play iPod, and music on USB drive, ability to add an aftermarket amp) The sound is excellent!! I got the deck to replace the factory cd player that failed. It fits perfectly and looks factory so no one will want to break into the car. I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I have bought two Eclipse CD1200G and am pleased about the features and the ease of use. I like the dual red/green that you can change according to your vehicle' s instrument lighting color. I go fishing and take my Honda CRV off road a lot and even with all the bumps on the road the unit is playing clear. One drawback is when you are making or receiving a phone call even if its a near by car, you get an annoying buzz or hum. But if that's not a concern then go ahead and get this, it's affordable and don't find it at your audio store near town.

Usability
I like that this unit looks like something from the factory, no monster screen or any fancy lights,

The only issues I have are technical:
1. I forget the number of songs, but I think its 512. If you have more than 512 songs it WILL NOT recognize them all. I found it annoying, but not deal breaking.
2. For USB at least, the random setting does not work with the track skip button. If you have it set to play random, and hit the 'next track' button, it goes to the next physical track, not a 'random track'. Again, a silly annoyance.

This is a "Ford stock looking" radio. that is why i wanted it, to keep the radio looking like a factory stock one so no one is tempted to steal it. For the money I recommend it if you are looking for a radio with a iPod and usb flash card capability, and you do not care about flashy cosmetics or a built in gps screen (very cool in my opinion). One thing I hate about this radio is that there is no PAUSE button and when you are playing mp3, you have to turn it off in order to not miss out on what you are listening to (I listen to audio books). The iPod once you plug it in, is useless - you have to use the limited forward back dash buttons to control it, making a deep search not possible and you have to unplug the ipod to find another folder to play from. this radio sounds every bit as good as the stock radio, and for me was a great option because i do not have radio steering controlls... again, for $109, this is a great bargain. i would not rave about this radio if it was like a thousand dollars, so keeping the price in mind it is awesome and can not be beat for the money.

This is a great unit for the money! That being said, the radio tuner is one of the worst performing ones I've ever used. Even with the setting for distant stations on this has frequent fading and extremely poor rejection of unwanted signals. Outside of the FM radio, I really like the USB mp3 playback feature. Just stick a flash drive in and you get hour after hour of uninterrupted music. As others have said I wish there was better control over the equalizer functions and a less cluttered and more usable display screen. Dollar for dollar though this thing is great as a replacement unit.

I think this unit is great! I love the usb and aux input. I like the fact that this unit looks like a factory deck which I figure will deter thieves. The controls are sensibly placed and easy to use. A few things I learned about this unit, If you use the usb port with sd cards, make sure you have no more than 512 mp3's and no hidden system files or jpeg's.

Great replacement for my old 94 Toyota stock unit and plays MP3's.

Couple things to note for potential buyers, it will not display clock unless you press a button, which will display it a few seconds before going back to music info.

Second, you can't skip to the next folder on your MP3, CD or USB, so there is no point in organizing your music files into folders. Only thing you can do is skip by 10 files. It does have a file search feature, but it's a hassle while driving. Everything else is great.

Can't really comment on reliability, we'll see. You will be pressing buttons a lot to look for specific music. Hopefully this will hold up. It seems durable though.

I ordered this player from here and I received it a week ago. First of all I was really impressed by the shipping from Sonic, as they included the dash mounting kit and the harness for the make of my car with it. As a bonus they also provided the iPod interface cable. Installation of the player was really easy in the 2000 Civic. The player has great controls, you can browse the whole iPod through the interface cable. Sound controls are great and as this is not very flashy. It sits flush on the dash and doesn't make it feel like an aftermarket stereo with all the aftermarket stereo features. Anyone out there who wants an aftermarket stereo without all the stupid flashy lights on them, this is best match for them.

For the money this is a very great value! This is a good radio and media player but it does lack some of the factory radio perks such as; no speed volume control & cannot dim the lighted dial panel. Other than this the unit is very friendly. I like the way you can change the dial light colors, easily plays mp3 media with the 3.5mm jack and USB connection plug (note: you can only use max. 4GB USB memory sticks/drives), cd's and plenty of memory buttons for your radio station favs. This unit has plenty of power and I got the MTX 12 inch enclosed subwoofer from Sonic and that sounded so good I had to get new speakers to replace my four factory speakers! My 2007 Ford Focus is a 'Rockin' Ride' now!

This unit is especially nice if you want to keep a factory like look but want enhanced features and sound. The usb port is super convenient, as is the aux port for any media player.

It was nice getting the antenna adapter and wiring harness, but it didn't come with any hardware to actually mount the unit itself in. I had to rig something up, which doesnt look as nice as i would like.
