Some complain about screen washout in bright daylight but the default for brightness is set to low - just go into function and set dimming to off. I live in Washington DC so there are many HD stations and they all sound great plus you can link stations for listening to their side bands for more music. You will play with the sound adjustments so much the learning curve comes naturally. Get the carrier 'SoundKase DFC1X' for storing the detachable faceplate. I haven't found one issue with this unit and for the price point you'll save by having the HD portion integrated correctly.
