The NuForce uDAC-2 is a high-end performer, an affordable option for audiophiles. As a 24bit/96LHz Digital Audio Converter it elevates the Macintosh's audio to refined levels. And as hardware, it is small, efficient, has the connect options I use, and it even looks good. It does need to be set up properly: using the Mac's "Audio MIDI Setup" utility, it must be selected from the alternatives listed on the left window, and also under the "Output" tab: the format (96000KHz and 2ch-24bit). I furthermore found it convenient to install an application called the "SoundSource" to switch the Mac's output audio from "headphones" to "NuForce uDAC 2" (although the same can be done using Mac's Sound 'system preference panel') … and don't forget to connect high-end headphones to it.. and enjoy low-noise exquisitely pure sound !
