Noise Filter Specifications

Noise Filter Type
This designates the type of noise filter listed.

Ground Loop Isolators are connected in-line with the RCA interconnects or other audio cables.

Power Line noise filters connect to the power line of the receiver and help reduce noise from the source.

Pop Eliminator noise filters are designed to remove the "pop" that occasionally happens in some systems when the vehicle is turned on.

Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.

Didn't work for me

July 18, 2012

Not sure why, but this isolator didn't work for me at all. I even tried attaching the ground wires to a grounding point but still no luck. I ended up just removing them entirely and attaching my head unit ground wire to a ground point closer to the frame of the car. Helped a little bit but still got alternator whine.

Not bad

May 19, 2012

Not bad at all considering it's priced very reasonably. it completely eliminated my alternator noise. BUT, only if this unit is placed away from rcas and power wires, then you'll be fine. Once I found a spot I could put this away from everything, it was perfect, silent

Placed this ground loop isolator at the audio outputs of the scanners and the crosstalk went away! Very effective and an affordable solution. Highly recommended.

I use the GS Audio GL301 to eliminate audio crosstalk between two scanner receivers which feed air traffic audio. It works wonders!

Excellent product for its purpose.

January 27, 2010

Yes, a ground isolator is a band aid to a problem that could probably be fixed elsewhere in the circuit. That has no bearing on the quality of the product. I work for a custom audio and video company that works for the themed entertainment industry and we found that these isolators contain some of the best quality transformers of their type. We used dozens of them for a custom project in which we could not control the whole circuit and had no other way to get rid of the noise. Great product for the money.

Try other options first

January 27, 2009

These are just "band-aids" for engine noise. They usually just suppress the noise which also quiets the regular signal. Best thing to do is check to make sure you have a solid ground connection, make sure no power cables are near signal cables, and a small ground connection on the battery can also cause it. But this is still a decent product.
