    Crossover Specifications

    Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

    High-Pass (HP)
    High-Pass Crossover Frequency
The high-pass crossover frequency can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable high-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies above the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies below the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

    Low-Pass Crossover Frequency
The low-pass crossover frequency is typically used for subwoofers. It can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable low-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies below the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies above the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

    Equalizer Bands
The number of graphic or parametric equalizer bands the receiver has. The better the EQ, the more likely you will be able to "tweak" your sounds to your desire.
    Line Driver
A line driver is a small amplifier used to support the strength of the audio signal coming from the source unit.
    Max Output Level
The maximum level (in volts) of signal output. A higher level will increase the clarity and boost your signal.
    5 volts
    Width
The width of the item from left to right (side-to-side) measured in inches.
    6"
    Height
The height of the item, measured from top to bottom, in inches.
    3/4"
    Depth
The front-to-rear depth of the item, in inches. If the item is angled or slanted, this value is the bottom measurement.
    7"

what size ground and power wire goes to this crossover?
    A shopper on Nov 21, 2014
Best Answer: I always use oxygen free wireand all my interior wires are 12 gauge. You can use 14 gauge but I like to make sure my electronics and speakers get the maximum power that they need at all times. Nvx is the way for all your needs.

    Hi,

I have a Head Unit with (sadly) 4 channels output. Is this Clarion unit able to convert the 4channel input to a desired 6 channel input? (4 speakers, one subwoofer).

And is there an amplifier needed for the sub, when i have this unit installed?

    Thank you in advance!
    Karan R on Jun 10, 2016
    Best Answer: Hi there

Yes, you can use 2, 4 or 6 channels input and have sub-signal out in any case.
You chose SUM to have the sub signal from the 2 og 4 channel input or you swich to RCA to use a sub input via the RCA connectors for that .
As you I only have a 4 channel option with my head unit. I have a 4 channel amplifier for the front and rear output and a second amplifier for the subwoofer. I think you need the extra amps to get a decent sound without overheating the head unit. Especially a subwoofer consumes power. But I have not tried that, so I can't say for sure.
Another solution is to buy an amplifier with all the needed crossover options...

    Cheers

Can we use audio in put for 2channel?
    A shopper on Feb 4, 2015
Best Answer: This is a 3 way crossover, so it is meant to separate your mids, height and bass (lows), do that and you will have no issues and you will be extremely pleased with how your music plays.
