Kicker CompVT 6.5" subwoofer was specially designed for “Livin’ Loud” in the harsh automotive
environment. CompVT subwoofers are versatile and surpass the competition in a sealed box, but can
also be mounted in free air applications and factory cutout locations. The small diameter of the CompVT
6.5" subwoofer makes it ideal for custom installations and space-limited applications.

I did a lil experiment with this sub in my videogame chair. I'm runnin 100w RMS into it n i feel like i'm gettin punched in the back. Perfect for my application. Even tho 4 ohms is low for home audio it has good SQ. The only downside is it kinda just flops around when the real low bass hits. Great subwoofer for tight spaces.

I wasn't quite satisfied with the driver in the first enclosure I created. I started exploring other upgrade options... saw the Power Acoustik THIN-13 woofer on this site... saw the premade box that Power Acoustik also makes for that woofer.
AS sort of an experiment, I set about re-constructing the enclosure for my Kicker CompVT 65 using the same dimensions as that Power Acoustik THIN-13BX pre-made box, only I made the width even wider to get as much cu. ft. as I could. (5" BD x 14.75"H x 2.5" TD x 38"W) about 0.75 cu. ft. Generously and loosely filled with polyfil,
This DRAMATICALLY improved what this little driver could do!
With the previous enclosure I constructed the cu. ft. was just a hair above their recommended minimum. And I'm not entirely sure it was 100% sealed.
For my second enclosure, I was meticulous about it's construction, especially since for that one I decided to go ahead and try using 1/2" MDF (as the manual says) since it would give me much more internal volume. Also for the 2nd one I used "Liquid Nails" along all the seams. And I used the little bracing triangle pieces like they recommended. I didn't for the first enclosure since on that one I used 3/4" MDF so I figured it wouldn't need it since it was such a small enclosure, and since I was using thicker MDF than stated.
Anyhoo... 1/2" MDF works fine. Make the enclosure as big as you can possibly get away with in your tight location, and it'll payoff for you.
I may just keep this 6.5" for a while now. Whereas before I wasn't all the way happy.

I have an 2002 Ford Explorer SportTrac. They are hugely limited on space behind he backseat. My original intent was to drop this 6.5" sub into the same sub box the stocker sat in. This does not work. the stock sub box is a plastic/hard-rubber molded thing and I don't think it's stiff enough, nor provides the minimum cu. ft necessary.
Soo... I built a custom box. Instructions say 1/2" MDF. Dunno, 1/2" felt flimsy to me so went 3/4" MDF. Figured I could use same box and go for an 8" shallow sub if didn't like the 6.5" enough. Once I nailed-down problems with air leaks in the custom box I built I was really surprised at just how hard this little guy can hit!
I'm powering it with an ultra-slim Blaunpunkt THA 1250 PnP monoblock Class D sub woofer amp with the input gain backed-off a bit since it supposedly gives 250W RMS and the speaker is listed 150W RMS.
If you have a tight install location go ahead and get this sub. Just make sure the enclosure you construct is nice and sealed and meets minimum cu. ft. requirements.

This little subwoofer packs one big bang! Coupled with a Kicker amp it turned the stereo in my Jeep Wrangler into a sound system I really enjoy listening to even with the top down. Fit perfectly in the center council with little effort. I highly recommend this speaker for those with little space to spare.
Excellent service, amazing prices and fast shipping, my package arrived in tip top shape and works perfectly. Thanks I will continue to buy from you and refer many people to buy from Sonic Electronix.
