Expandability

Additional Audio/Video Inputs
These inputs enable the unit to receive an audio or video signal from a separate source. There are many different types of connections and ways to accomplish this. Most common are RCA Composite cables and 3.5mm mini-jack plugs.

RCA Composite Inputs
These are your typical red, white, and yellow RCA composite cables that are common among devices with audio and video inputs. The red and white cables are dedicated for audio. The red cable is for the right channel and the white is for the left channel. The yellow cable is specifically for the video signal. Because this type of auxiliary cable contains 2 channels of audio, it will support stereo sound.

3.5mm
This is commonly referred to as a mini-jack or a headphone jack. It is a 3.5mm plug that transfers audio only. There is a right and left audio channel on the plug which allows for stereo sound playback.

3.5mm AV Input
These plugs look similar to the common 3.5mm mini-jack, however they carry a third channel dedicated for video.

Optional
This means that an auxiliary input is possible, but only with the use of an optional accessory. These optional adapters will sometimes use the CD Changer port or other port on the back of a unit that might restrict the use of other expandability features. These accessories are typically sold separately.

Sounds grea

January 24, 2010

I bought the iKick for use at work. (I work in a noisy factory) It has no problem filling a large area with quality sound. The bass is nice and doesn't sound bad at all at the higher levels. I have had many comments on how good the iKick sounds from several of my co-workers. A couple have even bought from Sonic Electronix because they have such a great deal on them. I would highly recommend this over any other ipod speakers. If there is one negative thing at all I would say it is the lack of a tuner for local radio stations. That is why I gave features a 4 instead of a 5.

ALL IT'S CRACKED UP TO BE

January 21, 2010

I purchased the IK500 as a Christmas gift for my partner. I did lots of research online for the best docking station for the ipod. This thing is truly amazing. You cannot get a better low end on a portable unit. The little subwoofer KICKS A$$! You will not be disappointed with this product. Sincerely, Jody

Great Ipod Acessory

January 5, 2010

I was able to pick this product up for about 50 bucks cheaper than it is listed by making an offer. Overall it is way worth the 189.99 that i payed for this product. It has the crisp highs that kicker is known for and the passive radiator on the back of this unit really helps fill in the bass. The unit maxes out at 40 on the volume and let me tell you it handles it without skippin a beat. Keep in mind at or around 40 volume the unit hits so hard that it may move back and forth but putting a towel under it solves this problem All in all just quit thinkin about it and buy it. A must have for every Ipod enthusiast.

Couldn't be happier

October 18, 2009

I checked out everything on the market before i bought this item and i am very pleased with it. It has an amazing sound, far louder and cleaner than any other system i tested (including the Bose). It has multiple types of inputs so you are not limited to just an Ipod. I use my Palm-Pre with Pandora more than the Ipod. It is easy to move around and its well made. Easy to use remote, in-fact we sit in our spa and flip songs and raise and lower the volume accordingly. you cant go wrong with this unit
