First off this says in the Specs that it is 3/4 thickness that is only true on the back panel for the port and speaker connections the tube itself is a pressed board about a 1/2" or a little more. The speaker side has a metal ring that the speaker goes in and the grill is supposed to go over. firstly the ring is made for the width of the tube portion being 3/4" so it fits very loosely. I used some weather stripping around the ring so that it was more snug on the box and easier to center for the speaker screws. I knew when I bought this that i would probably have to plug the port and I was right. Why they ported this thing i don't know 1.0 cu is too small to port for a 12" just look at the minimum specs on just about any 12" woofer they sale. All and all I paid a extra 6 bucks for some weather stripping and some sound dampening material, plugged the port and this thing actually sounds pretty decent for the money now.
