I have this amp and just bought a kicker 12 inch shallow mount dual 2 ohms, what's the best connection to get better sound at 1 ohm or at 4 ohm?
thanks
A shopper on Oct 1, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,

The final impedance doesn't determine "better sound". This isn't necessarily true, but we can't go into the theory of audio at this time. Point is, the final impedance is determined by the power output vs the power handling of your setup. Being that you didn't specify what subwoofer you are referring to, we cannot answer your question accurately. However, surely you can - if your subwoofer has a power handling of ~450w then you will obviously want to wire up to 4ohms , but if you subwoofer has a power handling closer to ~1100 then you will obviously want to wire down to 1ohm.

Will this amp work for two Kicker 12 cvrs? If so can i also run this amp with my door speakers and 6x9's?
A shopper on Mar 1, 2015
Best Answer: This amp will work for your kicker's. I'm not sure about the second part of the question tho. Are you talking about hooking BOTH your subs AND your door speakers? If so then you will NOT be able to do that because the kickers equal the exact RMS of the amp. Plus its never a good idea to have both door speakers and sub woofers on the same amp

can i use this on two subwoofers?
James H on Feb 11, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,

Yes. In theory, you can use this on 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, etc....subwoofers. The number of subwoofers isn't the important determining factor, its the configuration & final impedance of the subwoofers and how that compares to the amplifier's ratings. We suggest providing us a Proper Model number of the "two subwoofers" you are considering, so we can establish a better answer for you.

What guage wirewould be best for this?
A shopper on Jan 14, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,

As you will see, the consensus will for 4-Gauge with a few using 0-Gauge. We HIGHLY recommend OFC 4-Guage wiring, to get the draw the amp requires. However, many of our customers instead go with 0-Guage with the Stinger SPT521 (two for Power/Ground) to get the Best performance.

Has anyone ran this amp at 1 ohm and if so any overheating? Did it handle being ran at 1 ohm?
jeff S on Sep 30, 2014
Best Answer: Hey jeff
the amp doesn't overheat or get hot ever. I've ran it at 4 ohm 2 ohm and 1 ohm impedance. I have nvx true 4 gauge power and ground optima deep cycle yellow top and it runs great at 2 and 4 but 1 it draws a lot of power. I recommend 2 ohm operation. Im just running 2 kicker 12s@ 4 ohms and I have flex on my whole car. Amp never gets hot its a kick ass amp for the price

Am I able to use this amp with an 8 guage wire? I already have the wire ran and I will not be using the amp at it's full capacity.
Gerad G on Oct 5, 2015
Best Answer: I am not a certified installer or electrician, but for a D class amplifier you want to use at least 4 gauge. It depends on how long your wiring will be from the battery/ground to amp but the longer it is the thicker the wire you will want to use. Using a smaller than recommended wire will cause a lot of heat/stress which may not end well.

is the bass remote that comes with this amp, a BASS BOOST remote? or a remote GAIN knob, and how does it work. Basically do I set the gains on the amp first, then plug the remote in and set it to max?
ant222 on Aug 21, 2014
Best Answer: Hey man just to help you the bass knob is basically for cops if your disturbing the peace. This amp is great for 2 ohm operation I'm pushing 2 kicker cvrs. You set the gain on the amp. The knob is simply a way to turn your amp on and off. All the way down, 3/4 up, all the way up how you set it. Get it? If not reply or if it helps let me know.

I have this amp connected to one pioneer ts-sw3002s4 12 inch but i have very low sound, what could be the problem?
A shopper on Sep 24, 2015
Best Answer: Make sure you are connecting both the Positive and negative coming from the sub to just one of the positives and one of the negatives in the amp. Maybe turn down the low pass filter to about half way and use the remote to turn the gain down a little.

I heard the class D have more distortion than A/B, Is that make sense?
Steve on Feb 25, 2015
Best Answer: I don't have experience with class A/B, but I have not had any distortion with this amo at all. Class A/B amps usually do have a cleaner sound, but don't give you as much power or bass as class Ds.

is this amp good enough for my rockford fosgate p3 shallow mounts? i have 2 12s 4 ohm each
alejandro t on Feb 11, 2015
Best Answer: I got 2 15" rockford's with 600 rms, and this amp kicks tail! One hell of a buy! Clear sound, great power and punch! Works hard and rarely shuts off...if ever. A definite say buy! But this amp shoots out 1100 watts so that has to balance closely to your rms power, because if the amp is to small you could blow the speakers/subs. There is always the option of turning the gain down but try to match the power output from the amp to the rms of the speaker.

Ex. 2 twelve inch subs with 500 rms each equals 1000 rms so to speak, so thats a fairly good match!

No output from amplifier. I recently disconnected my box from my amp the other day to make room in my trunk. A couple days later I hooked it back up and now Im not getting anything out of my sub's. The power light is on the amp, protect mode is off. Nothing else was touched. I simply disconnected the speaker wires from the sub's. Any ideas?
Thanks, Ec

Am I able to use this amp with an 8 guage wire? I already have the wire ran and I will not be using the amp at it's full capacity. I am mainly wanting to use it since this has a bass knob where as my BRX 160.2 does not. I am only using it for on 10" sub
Gerad G on Oct 5, 2015
Best Answer: Hello Gerad,

We highly recommend going with larger wire. 8 Gauge is only suitable for 200-400 Watt systems, and That is assuming the wiring is proper OFC wiring. Regardless of "using the amp at it's full capacity" or not, the current draw and efficiency is the most important idea to keep in mind. You may instead want to lookin into a Universal Remote Level Control, so you can keep your current amplifier.

Hi Shane, we don't understand this sentence - specifically the part in the brackets. So we've taken it out of your question.

-is what is the amp gain post be set to if you could help me with this that would be great thank you?

What I like to know is what that is the RMS on one channel and will I need a capacitor for this amp and if I do what size?
shane p on Feb 26, 2016
Best Answer: Hi Shane,

-What I like to know is what that is the RMS on one channel

We aren't sure what you are asking here, can you elaborate a bit please. =] . All the ratings are in the description, there isn't anything beyond that to tell.

-will I need a capacitor for this amp and if I do what size?

That depends on your, your vehicle and the setup itself - we can't answer any of those things. However, we can say that MOST vehicles will need a little help if you wish to run this amp at 1ohm AND IF you plan on driving the setup fairly hard. Of course, this changes if your vehicle is - say - a Hummer with a beefy electrical system. We aren't mechanics, so we can't tell you how the vehicle is going to react, so we often suggest holding off on a cap until AFTER the setup is in.

What bass knob can i get for this?
Michael C on Oct 21, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,

Unfortunately there isn't a replacement knob for this amplifier. However, we highly recommend considering a Universal Remote Level Control, like the NVX XBRC.

I have ran two alpine type s at 1 ohm and the amp has never even got warm but i was wondering if this amp will work for two type r's till i can get the mono hifonics brx 2000. Would this amp be way under powering them? The r's say they can handle 300-1000 rms and they would be at about 550 rms give or take at 1 ohm.I just don't want to mess up two new subs.

Alpine SWR-12D4-OB
Alpine SWR-12D4-OB
Best Answer: Hell Steven,

You answered your own question within your question.

The SWR-12D4 is asking for power within 300-1000w RMS. The BRX1100.1D will provide ~550w RMS to each driver, which is well within the 300-1000w RMS. This means it will work, and will not harm your subwoofers.

On the contrary, the plan of putting the BRX2000 may very well harm your drivers. Just because Alpine says the subwoofer can handle up to 1k , doesn't mean you should. That is the equivalent of Red Lining your vehicle at all times Just because it can....disastrous right?

Like previous models, the magic number is 750w RMS , that the SWR are happy at. This means you may want to consider the Hifonics X1500.1D instead.

This is not to say that we completely discourage you going with the 2k; However, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you are providing the amp the cleanest signal possible, and - obviously - be responsible. We also would hate for you to 'mess up two new subs', especially sense blown subs are not covered under warranty. Plan accordingly.
