Limits are unknown to the eXcelon series of subwoofers by Kenwood. The KFC-XW1024D is a subwoofer that is all business when it comes to exceptional bass response, and precision sound quality. This eXcelon series subwoofer handles 500 watts of continuous RMS power, and boasts Dual voice coils to maximize output from the amplifier.
Higher output subwoofers require a strong, clean signal to keep thumping with precision. The Kenwood KFC-XW1024D ensures that it maintains the cleanest possible signal with a rubber magnet cover to improve cosmetics and performance. It maintains optimal signal with its reduced basket vibration, dual magnet drive, super linear spiders, and goal-plated push terminals.

Owned this subwoofer for less than a month and it crapped out on me. It was hooked up to a Kenwood KAC-8105D. It was not being pushed too hard at all. The settings on the amp were conservative compared to the 2 12" MTX Terminators it was hooked up to. All of a suddenn the subwoofer just stopped. I went to go check it out and it had over exerted itself. I saw smoke coming from the box when i was able to get the woofer back into its place. It was in a box that was 1 Cubic Feet as specified by Kenwood. I expected it to last a lot longer than 3 weeks.

Bought 2 of them in a bandpass box with 1000w nitro amp. They sound great, don't think I could have done better
|
