Best Answer: Hello Austin,

You will need far more than just an RCA cable and Speaker Wire. You've got to be able to turn on/off the amp, get power to it, ground it, etc.. The easiest way to accomplish this is by picking up a Amp Wiring kit like the T-Spec V8-8RAK, which will have everything included.

Best Answer: Hello Roy,

You have two options, neither is "better" than the other, neither will give you "better" performance than the other, and the choice between the two needs to be determined by You or your installer - it all depends on what the install lets you do.

First options is wiring the subwoofers TOGETHER and using ONE output at the amp, link below

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/product/img/subwoofer_wiring/2_subs_DVC_4_ohm_mono_variation2.jpg

Alternatively, you can wire each sub INDIVIDUALLY in parallel (check your manual) and give each subwoofer its own output.

BOTH of these will provide a 1ohm load , getting the 1200w RMS from the amplifier.

So, I just put two of these in the trunk of my 2005 Saturn Ion in a sealed box powered by a Pioneer GM-D9601 and I am wondering what the best gain and frequency settings would be? I would like them to hit hard at high volumes but I also want it to be crisp and clean and be able to hit the quick bass when its there. If it makes a difference, my head unit is the Power Acoustik PTID-8920B. Thank you in advance!

Best Answer: Hello CJ,

The Power Acoustik PTID-8920B doesn't provide the greatest signal, so your Gain will need to be turned up fairly high. The higher the gain is set, the lower the overall sound quality you are able to reach. This isn't a Terrible thing, 2v is a common figure, but we want you to understand that there is always room for improvement on the final outcome. We suggest setting your LPF, or "Freq", to ~80Hz. This will be roughly the half way point between 60-125Hz .

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_new.php?id=63975&picture_id=2356780

Setting the gain, however, isn't as easy as just giving you a figure. Please do a bit of homework of your own to understand the setting. Below are two link to give you a headstart.

Can this amplifier be bridged?? I have looked and looked for answer where someone has bridged this amplifier. The documentation doesn't say anything about being internally bridged. Going to run 2 Pioneer TS-SW3002S4 4ohm subs on a GM D9601. Infinity Kappa 60.11 2ohm Mids and highs on a GM-8604. If the GM-9601 can't be bridged - then I need to re-buy some items.
Gumby14U on Jan 24, 2015
Best Answer: The amplifier includes two pairs of speaker outputs though this is a monoblock amplifier. Two pairs are included for convenience in wiring as they are actually for the same output channel. When you wire one of your 4 ohm subs to one output pair and the other to the remaining output pair then you have paralleled your subs into a 2 ohm effective load. To ensure I'm clear, there is no way to wire subs on this amp so that you somehow have 2 channels ... they will always end up on the same mono output channel.

As such, it is a very cool running, efficient 1 ohm stable amplifier, so I would recommend that you get a pair of 4 ohm DVC (dual-voice coil) so that you can parallel the voice coils into a 2 ohm load (per sub) and then parallel the subs into a 1 ohm load.

Best Answer: No. It won't ruin anything as long as it is properly grounded and everything is wired correct. As far as power is concerned, you may have to run a capacitor or do a big 3 upgrade or both if you wish to stop dimming lights and to just make your electrical system work more efficiently.

I am looking to buy this amp to push two JBL GTO1214 subs. My research suggests that the amp is about 100W RMS higher than my subs. Will this be ok for my subs?
Gary M on Feb 27, 2016
Best Answer: Yes anytime you buy a amp you want it to be more than your speakers rms because this would provide more clean power vs. If your amp was underpowered. I have this amp and it beats the hell outta my kickers. Good luck!

I am already running one Pioneer D9601 off a factory head unit in a 13' Ford Mustang . It is pulling from the left front channel. I have a second D9601 I would like to use. Can I simply Y off each RCA Channel currently coming to the fist amp ? Will this be a clean signal for each amp, or will this cause any issues ?
ken s on Nov 4, 2015
Best Answer: It won't cause "issues", per se, but it also won't provide a "clean signal" . You will essentially be splitting the Quality of the signal by doing so. Your best approach is using the amplifier's built-in Output. You didn't mention this option, so are we to assume it is already being used for something else? If so, we do suggest putting in the work to get your source elsewhere, and not using a Y-adapter. That, of course, ends at your decision =] .

Best Answer: I don't think they make a good enough wiring kit. You'll have to make your own. I bought 20' of power & ground (0gauge) wire from NVX. I ran that to their distribution blocks. Then used their 4 gauge wire to hook up 2 gm-d9601 & a gm-d8604. I fused it with a kicker 300amp fuse before the block & a 200amp fuse to each amp after the block. No troubles with wiring heating up & everything works great. NVX big 3 bundle is also good. Have the xs-d3400 under the hood & eventually a xp series battery in the back.

can this amp power two pioneer w304r subs wired in a parallel circuit or will it blow them?
Gray S on Nov 20, 2014
Best Answer: Yes this amplifier can power your subs but I wouldn't recommend it. If you wire your subs to a 2ohm load, the total rms (nominal power) would be 600. This amplifier would push 800 rms at 2ohms to your subs causing them to over heat or distort after playing a couple songs at high levels. I've experienced this.

I would definitely recommend the pioneer gm-8601 that sonic electronics carries. That amplifier will give you 500 rms at 2ohms. You're losing 100rms but your subs will be safe from damage & you'll be happy with your amplifier. It's still a good product, you can make up for the RMS loss by using a ported box if you're looking for a boomy system.

Best Answer: Positive from one voice coil to positive on a voice coil on the opposite side of the sub then negative from that same starting voice coil to negative on the other side. The spare positive and negative that you didn't put wires in on one side of the sub you will do positive front that to the positive on the amp and negative from Sun to negative to amp. And that's it. You will have a positive and negative terminal open on one side which is okay. This setup will have your 4ohm dual voice coils running at 2ohms. For diagrams you need to Google parallel 4ohm dual voice coil with 2 ohm load. Your sub can only handle 2ohm or 8 ohm loads and of course you want more power so you are looking for a 2 ohm load for your 4ohm dvc. Let me know if you need anymore help

Pioneer TS-W1200PRO
Pioneer TS-W1200PRO
Best Answer: Hello Robert,

The PIONEER GM-D8601 is NOT a good match for the Pioneer TS-W1200PRO. Assuming One, you will need to wire the driver to a 2ohm load, which will provide a little under DOUBLE the power, which is asking for the driver to blow. Keep in mind, blown subs are not covered under warranty, so please do not attempt this. If we assume Two drivers, 450x2=900, the amp will provide ~150w more than what the drivers are calling for. That is a little more manageable, but still not suggested. The Pioneer GM-D8601 is the better match for ONE subwoofer.

Best Answer: It should be fine. When you tune your amplifier, you almost never need the gain cranked all the way up. This leads to distortion. You always want a little play room between the amp and sub to ensure you wont end up underpowering your subwoofer. Make sure you dont go full blast until the sub is broken in.

Best Answer: Your question is a bit tricky to answer. Obviously the power ratings of the two amplifiers are about the same (not considering the Dyno results), so there isn't much "upgrade" there. We aren't Sundown Dealers, so we can't speak for their product, but the specs of the driver say that your amplifier is only asking for ~1200w RMS @1ohms/4ohms. With that said, the output is a bit of a moot point, because you are shooting for the same results.
However, the JAD does provide better overall SQ, efficiency and a proper Subsonic Filter. Is this "better"? That really depends on YOUR opinion of how much all the matters. We would argue that it DOES matter, making the JAD "better", but that comes down to you =]

Can this amp work with one pioneer champion pro tsw3003d4?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,

Yes, it can work. You will have a bit of a cushion above the power handling of the driver, but that is manageable. Make sure a proper install is performed, the amplifier is tuned right and proper restraint. =]
We suggest consulting with your installer.

Wiring in parallel is the only practical option. The wiring guides are right on the product page, but below is the specific one. (You only need to use ONE Positive and ONE Negative at the amp. Especially if you are not familiar with wiring drivers.)

Best Answer: Hello Esteban,

First, we do NOT recommend this setup. The amplifier puts out far too much power at 1ohm (subs wired in parallel) and not enough at 4ohms (subs wired in series). If you are obligated to use this amplifier, then we suggest wiring the drivers to a 4ohm load (only using ONE output at the amp) as so:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/product/img/subwoofer_wiring/2_subs_SVC_2_ohm_mono_variation1.jpg

If you still have the option, we suggest the Pioneer GM-D8601 instead, and simply giving each driver its own output. The amplifier will then wire the setup , internally, to a 1ohm load.

Best Answer: Hell Austin,

The XKIT42 provides all the basic IMPORTANT parts to install the amplifier. No two installs are alike, so there will always be the chance that you will need a random connection not included. This seldom happens, but plan accordingly to make sure you have access to parts.
In regards to the Power/Ground Wire, the 4 Gauge will insure that the amplifier runs VERY happily throughout the duration of its life. However, the figures you plan on running - i.e. ~400-500w RMS - technically only calls for 8 Gauge OFC, like the NVX XKIT82 .
