Don't go to B*** B**. Works on '06 Cobalt.

February 18, 2013

I went to B*** B** to get a wire harness for my 2006 Cobalt. "Geek S****" told me the ONLY harness that would work was a $90 piece that "maintained security beeps" - nothing else that would work with my car exists. I turned him down, found this online, and saved $81 installing my new radio. It's been 6 months and it still works perfectly and I don't notice any difference in security beeps or whatever. Just do a little research before going to B*** B** - and make them your last option.

Cheaper harness for gm models with door chimes. Who needs em?
Galen W on Apr 16, 2015
A cheaper alternative if you don't want to splurge for the adapter that controls warning chimes, onstar, etc.
Kurtis C on Jul 30, 2014
Do I have to use this on my 05 malibu or will the Metra 70-2103 work? My car does not have onstar or steering wheel controls, nothing fancy like that.

Best Answer: The interface will do two things for you: it will retain your warning chimes and it will provide the proper input for the "Ignition" wire on the aftermarket radio. You can use the 70-2103 but you will have to find your own "ignition" source and you will have no one else to blame if you leave your headlights on and kill your battery.

what is the red for? where does it go?
A shopper on Aug 6, 2015
Best Answer: If you have the Monsoon radio system, it uses GM RAP system. Meaning it doesn't have a dedicated power cable. The red cable is power for your radio. You will need to run it to a ign source such as ign fuse on the passenger kick panel
