This was my first MP3 player. A few friends own I-pods and I've played with them, but for the price was not impressed. If just lookin for a device to play music this is what you want. I use it when running, snowboarding (works well in cold conditions and also took a few hard crashes), workin in the yard, and I've never had a problem with it. Very user friendly, and battery life is Ok. My only regreat is not waiting and getting the 8G instead of the 4G. Filled it faster than I thought I would. Great buy for a great price!

Does everything a 4 gigabyte ipod does; except cost.
It's best that you rip your own music and sync it, rather than have a music service(I-tunes, Rhapsody, etc) because when you cancel, you can't play the music anymore and can't take them off your coby.
