General Specifications

Total Peak Power Handling
This is the Total Peak Power handling of all the subwoofers included in the package or enclosure.

If the loaded enclosure or amplifier and subwoofer package includes more than a single subwoofer, then this is the total peak power handling for all of the subs combined.

Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements.
300 watts
RMS Watts per Channel
This is the RMS rating, or continuous power rating that the receiver is able to produce per channel.
Includes DVD Player
This means that the home theater system includes a DVD player.
Includes Speakers
This means that the home theater system includes a set of speakers.
Includes Subwoofer
This means that the speaker system includes a subwoofer.
Includes Receiver
This means that the home theater package includes a receiver.
Audio Channels
This is the number of audio channels that the home theater system includes. And example of this would be "5.1". The "5" designates that there are 5 surround sound speakers. The "1" indicates that the systems includes a subwoofer.

DVD Player

Instant Streaming Content
Some devices can connect to the internet for instant streaming content. This feature allows you to receive instant access to different media sources such as Netflix, YouTube, Blockbuster On Demand and more when connected to the network. For more information on the specific content and what they offer, please see the product description.
HDMI Up-Conversion
HDMI Up-Conversion technology improves the image quality of regular DVDs, allowing them to play up to 1080p resolution.
Progressive Scan
Progressive Scan Technology is a way that an image is displayed. In a moving image, each line of a frame is displayed in sequence. This results in a smooth, clearer image.
WiFi Capable
This feature allows devices to download new software updates, stream video content through various services, or connect with BD-Live features wirelessly when connected with a compatible wireless link.
This is an expanded feature in a Blu-ray player that allows the viewer extended online features such as internet chats, and games or even downloadable features like quizzes and even movie trailors.
Digital Noise Reduction

This means that the device is able to reduce more noise with the help of a digital processor.

It is a system that tries to filter out “digital noise”, aka picture distortion. This distortion can occur for many different reasons. Anything from the very power used to operate the device to the lights (LED) on the front of the player itself.

x.v. Color
A new color space that allows compatible units to view up to 1.8 times as many colors as sRGB (the previous standard that began in 1996)
3:2 Pulldown

This means that the devices will enhance the framerate of older videos to play smoothly on the display set.

Film is usually shot in 24 frames per second with 2 fields per frame. One field for the even lines, and one for the odd. The standard NTSC broadcast is 30 frames per second. To achieve this frames have to be created to sustain a smooth image. So out of every 4 frames, a 5th frame is created by combining opposite fields of consecutive frames, in turn creating a new frame so the outcome will be 30 frames from 24.

24p Playback
This means that the device will allow the media to play at it's original recorded framerate. It is a feature that allows the video image to be transferred as it was originally recorded, at 24 frames per second. This feature ensures that you will be watching “movie theater” quality without any “judder” that would occur with some 3:2 pulldown.
D/A (Digital to Analog) Converter
A Digital to Analog converter, also known as D/A Converter or DAC, is a circuit that converts a digital signal into a analog signal

OSD (On Screen Display)
Indicates that the unit has menus and features that display on the screen. Typically, on-screen menus allow users to adjust audio and video settings easier.
Remote Control Included
Whether or not the unit comes with a remote control.
Number of Discs

If the unit is capable of karaoke, then it will offer playback of karaoke discs and often come with a microphone. Please read the description carefully to know exactly what karaoke features the unit has.

Supported Sound Processing
This is the type of audio processing that the receiver is capable of.

They also allow for higher quality surround sound to be encoded on the discs, as well as much more information due to the data storage capacity on a Blu-ray disc being much larger than a standard DVD. A dual layer Blu-ray disc can fit 50GB of data compared to 4.7GB for a regular DVD!
