I've own the PTID-585ON & PTID-5300, and both are really great multi-media devices that are just a lot of fun to own. They are really ahead of many known brand names. The features are very easy to use and the audio quality is superb as well as the video is A+.
One thing to note though. I upgraded to the PTID-585ON for the bigger screen size and because The PTID-5300's touch screen was faded out within 3-4 months of owning it. I couldn't see anything.
The PTID-585ON has worked flawlessly for almost a year know. However one of my biggest pet peeves is that, UNLIKE the PTID-5300, the Device has to READ the SD card Everytime it is selected. This takes a brief moment. It's just that it's rather annoying knowing that predecessor didn't do this. And this is suppose to be the UPGRADE.
Small annoyance considering the amount of features you get and the style is just awesome.
It plays .avi very well wth not problem.
IT states it plays .mp4, but this is meant as the audio .mp4.
It will not play .mp4 video or the quicktime .mov files. You will need to convert them to .avi.
