24p True Cinema mean True Home Theater

Powered by the latest 3LCD technology, the Sony VPL-AW10 HD projector makes images look more lifelike than ever. And with a screen size up to 200", it delivers a truly cinematic experience. Sit back and enjoy the bright scenes that the Advanced Iris Function delivers, while also displaying deep blacks for the perfect amount of contrast. Capable of being mounted on a table or the ceiling, this projector offers maximum versatility to transform almost any room into an incredible home theater. Although this projector has a native resolution of 720p, it will conveniently accept 1080p/24 and 1080p/60 signals as well. (1080p video is internally converted and displayed at 720p).

Many films are shot at 24 images per second. Because of the limitations of conventional televisions (both CRT and flat panels), these 24 images can’t be faithfully reproduced. The sequence of the 24 images gets altered in order to display the content on television. The result is a unnatural, jerky movement that the movie creators did not intend. With24p True Cinema, the 24 progressive images are displayed as they should be, in the same sequence as the original film source. In combination with next-generation video devices like Blu-ray Disc, the same film-like motion that you could only enjoy in the theaters in now available in the comfort of your living room.

Advanced Iris Function

This function reproduces bright images in bright scenes and deep blacks in dark scenes by dynamically changing the opening according to the level of input signals. Two "Auto" nodes offer the user some flexibility depending on content. Each mode has three sensitivity settings to allow additional adjustments: Recommended, Fast and Slow. Working in combination with the High Contrast Plate, an awesome contrast ration of up to 6,000:1 can now be achieved.

Yes - 720p
Projector Display System
This is the type of system that the projector uses to display the image.
LCD x3
Resolution (pixels)
A display's pixel resolution defines its ability to resolve fine details. Digital TVs and projectors measure screen resolution in pixels. The higher the resolution, the more detailed the picture will be.
1280 x 768
Lumens Brightness
A Lumen is a measurement of the perceived power of light. Projectors use the measurement of lumens to determine the overall brightness of the projector. The lumen measurement in relation to projectors was standardized by ANSI (American National Standards Institute). The value listed here is the number of "ANSI Lumens" and will be a consistent measurement among all projectors.
Contrast Ratio
On a display, the contrast ratio measures the brightest color to the darkest color. A high contrast ratio is usually desired in this value. A high contrast ratio is determined as the gap between the two numbers widens.
Aspect Ratio
The standard ratio of 4:3 (width:height) is one that most are familiar with; however, today we're seeing more models with widescreen 16:9 aspect ratios, which closely matches the most common movie theater screen ratio and HDTV broadcasts too.

Selectable aspect ratio means that the user has the option to choose which aspect ratio they would like. This feature is usually found on televisions.

Video Broadcast System
Most cameras and displays will be compatible with a NTSC video broadcast system. Others will be compatible with a PAL system. Many units will be compatible with both.
HDTV Compatibility
This means that the television, projector, or monitor is capable of receiving and playing back a high-definition signal.

Projector Features

Keystone Correction
The Keystone effect occurs when the image is being projected on to an angled surface. The result is a image that appears to be a trapezoid and distorted. Keystone correction is a feature that takes the distorted image and returns it to the normal image, despite the angled surface it is being projected on to.
Ceiling Mountable
This means that the unit has the option to be mounted on the ceiling. Often times additional accessories might be required to make the mount safe and secure.
Rear Screen Projection
This feature means that the projector has the ability to project onto a rear projection screen.
Built-In Speakers
This means that the unit comes with speakers already built into the unit.

Automatic Focus
Automatic focus means that the camera or lens will focus on the objects automatically, instead of manually adjusting the lens. This is a convenient feature that makes taking pictures and working with lenses much simpler and easier.
Manual Focus
Manual focus means that the lens is able to be focused by hand according to the user. This feature is best for those that want to have complete control of what they are photographing, viewing, or displaying.
Lens Shift
Lens shift is a highly convenient feature that allows the image to be adjusted horizontally and vertically. This allows for off center positioning and gives more flexibility in custom installations.
Minimum Projection Size
This is the minimum size that the projector is recommended to be displayed at. The size is measured diagonally and in inches.
Maximum Projection Size
This is the maximum size that the projector is recommended to be displayed at. It is measured diagonally and in inches.

Inputs and Outputs

Composite (RCA) Stereo Inputs

VGA (D-sub) Input
VGA inputs allow the unit to be connected to a computer using an analog 15-pin VGA cable. This feature is especially important for those that want to use a projector or television to display the image from their computer. Ideal for presentations and other business applications.
RS-232 Port
The RS-232 connection port allows the projector to connect to other devices. Most commonly used to connect to a home theater system, the projector can receive automated operations such as turning the unit on or off.
