I installed this in my new 2013 Hyundai Sonata along with an MTX Thunder 4 channel amp, new Polk Audio coaxials (which I replaced the front Polks with Alpine Type S components). I wanted to keep the dash stock, so I wired in an NVX XPLOC2 line out converter and ran the RCA's to the center armrest storage area where I mounted the HFEQ and then ran RCA's to the amp in the trunk.
First off, the line driver gave a big boost to sound levels. However, with the gains turned up much past 25%, I got an annoying hiss. The hiss was the same loudness regardless of what the headunit volume was at, but when using the volume adjustment on the HFEQ, I could eliminate the hiss by turning it down to 25%. Once the volume on the HFEQ was at 25%, I could turn the gains up all the way and there was no hiss.
For 2 reasons, I ended up getting the Cadence CEQ773. The 4 bands on the HFEQ were just not enough adjustment for me. I was having issues with the midrange SQ, and with only one adjustment, I couldn't adjust the part of the mids that needed it and SQ suffered too much for me. Also, I wanted to see if the hiss was a problem with my wiring or ground, or if it was coming from the HFEQ. After installing the Cadence EQ, the hiss is gone completely regardless of where the gains or EQ volume adjustment is set, so I know it was the HFEQ.
All in all, I would say its a good unit, but since I couldn't get rid of the hiss and adjust things as much as I needed to with my set up, it didn't work for me. If your system needs adjustments in the mids, I would suggest going for a 7 band or higher EQ. If you just need some minor tweaking, this unit could work well for you and it is a good looking unit with easy to use controls.

I purchased 2 of these. One for my car, one for my wife's car. Easy to use, great sound, good crossover points, best of all no noise. Nice half a din size. Wish Sonicelectronix had more!

This product did what it need to do and more... it is a very powerful EQ. I had to turn my amps down so they wouldn't blow my subs and component speakers. I wish I had more eq adjustment for frequencies. I would highly recommend this product.

I have installed this product in my Peugeot 206, near the center console so as to reach it easily when driving and I must say that this is a good product, you can choose two sources: your head unit and your iPod as a second source. The lights are great too, I prefer the blue color instead of the red one and the line driver included works well. So, I recommend this product to anyone who prefers quality without losing power too and S.E is one of the best site ever for car audio and for shipping to my country. Thanx S.E!
