General Features

Security System Type
This indicates whether the product is a security car alarm product, remote start module, or a combo unit that offers security with remote start features.

Security: This means that the car alarm system is just that. No bells and whistles, just a car alarm system.

Remote Start: when installed, this allows the user to start a vehicle from a remote location. Remote start modules and security with remote start alarms often require an additional vehicle specific bypass module to complete installation.

Security with Remote Start: This means that the system incorporates both features listed above.

Car Alarm
If "Yes", the system will have alarm security features to help prevent vehicle theft and tampering. Remote start modules without alarm features will have "No" for this value.
Remote Start
If the alarm or remote start module has "Yes" for this value then the system has an electronic device that allows you to start your vehicle by remote control without actually being inside the vehicle or using the key. The remote start system supplies the vehicle with power and simulates a start just as if you were inside using the key. Select vehicles require additional accessories or immobilizer/bypass modules to use the remote start feature.
Keyless Entry
Keyless entry allows you to remotely lock, unlock, and open the trunk of a vehicle if that is equipped with power door lock motors (actuators) and power truck motor (solenoid). Door lock controls via the remote are found on nearly all of today's car alarms.
2-way Paging
Alarms with 2-way paging inform the user via remote vibrating/audible/visual alert when the alarm is triggered. The pager must be within range to receive the transmitted signal.
Number of Remotes
The number of remotes included with the alarm system purchase.
Number of Buttons on Primary Remote
The amount of buttons on the Primary Remote generally equals the number of functions that you can use your remote for. Some remotes have auxiliary buttons which can perform more than one task per button.
Main Transmitter Type
LCD and OLED transmitters display various screen savers, warnings, alerts and other features on the face of the remote, rather than first generation button-only transmitters. They provide more information typically and other features.
Sidekick Remote Transmitter Type
Some car alarms and remote start systems come with more than 1 transmitter, which is referred to as the "sidekick" transmitter. Most LCD/OLED systems come with a button-only sidekick transmitter, while select units come with an additional LCD/OLED transmitter.
LED/Display Color
The color of the LED indicator(s) on various items such as button-only car alarm transmitters, various chargers, cell phone accessories and other products.

For OLED or LCD car alarm remotes/transmitters the display color refers to the color(s) of the screen.
Number of Vehicles Supported
Some higher end car alarm systems can support multiple vehicles. This is the number of vehicles that the works with.
Number of Auxiliary Outputs
The number of auxilary outputs that the car alarm system supports. These outputs are left over from the total number of channels. They can be used to add on other options or additional features to a vehicle.
PC Programmable
Custom, advanced programming options through one or more of the following: PC, Pocket PC, PALM Pilot, Valet SW or Remote Transmitter allows for advanced controls of your alarm's functions.
Smartphone Compatibility
These are the types of smartphone systems that the car alarm system is compatible with.
GPS Tracking
These car alarms enable a user to track the position of the vehicle using GPS satellites.
Built-in Bypass Module
System Type
This refers to the type of remote start system, whether it is an add-on or a complete kit.

Convenient Features

Panic Mode
Panic mode allow the user to be able to set off the alarm from the remote.
Trunk Release
The trunk release option allows for integration and control of the trunk latch. Additional parts may be required.
Valet Mode
Valet mode is a car alarm setting that adjusts system to less sensitive settings when allowing a valet to park your car and similar settings.

Alarm Features

Number of Car Alarm Channels
The total number of channels that the car alarm system supports. These channels can include locking and unlocking doors, opening the trunk, remote start, and many other options.
Most car alarms come with a siren that can be installed. The siren will sound when the car alarm is triggered the alarm goes off.
Shock Sensor
The shock sensor is designed to trigger an alarm on light or heavy impacts and vibrations (standard sensor included with most alarms).

A dual zone shock sensor is a feature of proximity and shock sensors only. Zone 1 ( light impact on shock sensor and short motions(adjustable) on proximity sensor) will trigger warn away chirp to warn intruder that car has an alarm without setting off the full alarm. Zone 2 (heavy impact on shock sensor and extended motions(adjustable) on proximity sensor) will trigger the alarm to “go off”.

Two-Way Paging Features

Transmitter Alert
The is the way that the transmitter, or remote can communicate alerts to the user.
Interior Thermometer
Some of the higher end car alarm systems are able to detect the temperature of the cabin. The temperature can then be displayed on the remote.

Remote Start Features

Cold Start Timer
Great for those on a set schedule who need their vehicle to warm up at a specific time every morning for example.
Turbo Timer
Some remote start systems have turbo timer feature which allows the vehicle to run for a specified amount of time after exiting vehicle. In turbocharged vehicles this prevents hot oil in the engine from choking up in the lines. Hard driving can raise engine oil temperatures to dangerously high levels. Proper cool down is essential for a healthy turbo and engine.
Compatible with Diesel Engines
This means that the remote start system will work with diesel engines.
Engine Start Intervals
Some remote start systems offer feature to protect your engine. The engine start interval feature will start the car at particular time intervals or when the engine has reached a certain temperature. This feature prevents the engine block from freezing.
Compatible with Manual Transmissions
This means that the remote start car alarm is compatible with manual transmissions. Please see the item description, manual, or your professional installer for more information as to how this feature will work with your specific vehicle.

Great product with nice features for price

February 24, 2011

I installed the Autopage MA-210 on my '04 Honda 600RR and am pretty impressed with it. However, it is not a plug and go, like the Gorilla. There is a fair amount of wiring to do, and the instructions say the product is intended for professional installation, but with a little patience the installation can be DIY.

The alarm has a 2-way paging feature, and comes with one keychain fob pager unit with LCD screen and 5 function buttons. The pager fob uses a AAA alkaline battery, and it comes with a battery installed. The alarm notifies your pager unit when the alarm has been triggered, and via what trigger. To me, this was the most important feature, as it relieved some of the anxiety of walking into a store or restaurant, leaving the bike unattended and not knowing if something was happening to the bike. (For max security, I also use a cable lock). Besides the pager fob, the alarm also comes with its own siren (there is also a wire output to use the existing horn on your bike, in combination or as an alternative), a valet button, a shock sensor, a tilt sensor built into the control module, a SAW antenna to broadcast to the pager unit up to 1/2 mile away, an ignition kill switch built into the control module, a closed-loop trigger to secure a bag or other object on the bike, an LED signal light, and about 4 or 5 optional circuit wires that I did not use (for additional sensors, or pulsed switching). As you would expect, the siren chirps signals and also goes full police siren when the alarm is triggered. The control module flashes your turn signals or whatever else you want to flash, up to 5 amps or 60 watts.

The control module is pretty small, about 2" x 3.5" x 1" and can easily fit in the tail fairing cavities, which is a very key feature, since there is not much room on the RR. The shock sensor is a separate little unit that you can hide in a number of locations, to make it harder for a thief to locate and snip before he sets it off. The siren is perhaps the bulkiest component, a cylinder about 2.5 inches in diameter and 3 inches long.

In summary, the alarm works great and is also highly customizable and expandable, and would be worth it at twice the price.

The alarm will drain the bike's battery after sitting in the disarmed mode for about 2 weeks. When left in armed mode, the alarm will go into power save mode after 12 hours. In the power save mode, the alarm will drain the bike's battery in about 1 week.

Works Good

January 3, 2010

Instructions are unorganized so if you have never installed an alarm before you may have issues. Other than that the alarm works well and the paging function has good range.
