Reference Quality Sound from Infinity

Never has getting high-end sound in your car been easier. The Infinity Reference 6832cf car speakers are the perfect solution to aftermarket speakers. With the 2 ohm voice coil, these speakers are ideal for running directly off of a headunit or for use with a aftermarket amplifier. Infinity engineers have combined the Plus One+cone with the high roll rubber surround to help retain the integrity of the sound. The edge driven, textile dome tweeter also features a tweeter attenuation switch that will adjust from 0 to +3 dB. Get more from your audio system with the Infinity 6832cf.

True Four Ohm Technology

The engineers are Infinity have developed a speaker that works for all applications. The True Four Ohm Technology used in these speakers make it perfect for running directly of a headunit or with an aftermarket headunit and amplifier. All of the speakers in the Infinity Reference line feature a 2 ohm voice coil. However, when you factor in the small OEM speaker wire of most vehicles and the heating in the voice coil during use, the impedance actually seen by the amplifier will increase. Infinity has adjusted the speaker to be safely connected to any headunit.

Speaker Specifications

Series
This is the manufacturer product line of speakers.
Reference (Infinity)
Priced Per
Car Speakers are typically sold in pairs so you will receive 2 speakers for each speaker purchase on speakers marked "Priced Per Pair". If a speaker is marked "Priced Per Each" then the speaker is sold individually and each purchase you make will result in 1 speaker. High-powered tweeters, midrange and full-range pro audio for car speakers are typically sold per each speaker.
Pair
Speaker Size
Refers to the size of the speaker measured in inches. Every vehicle has standard application sizes. Please use our vehicle fitment guide for your vehicle's specific speaker sizes if you do not know them.
6" x 8" (also mounts in most 5" x 7" locations)
Design
The number of individual drivers in a car speaker. Speakers with 2 drivers are known as a 2-way, and 3 drivers are known as a 3-way. Component systems are often referred to as "separates" because the tweeter is not attached to the midwoofer (main speaker driver) and mounts separately in a location such as a door post. Component systems typically come with an external crossover so you can easily adjust the high and low frequencies sent to both the midwoofer and the tweeter. Center channel speakers are great for those looking to have surround sound in their vehicle.
2-way
Tweeter Design
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Dome
Tweeter Composition
Materials such as polypropylene, silk, cloth, and paper are the most common, where as many more recent tweeters are now manufactured with composites such as Aluminum, Titanium, Mylar, and other materials.

PEI is an acronym for "Polyetherimide" which is an amorphous, amber transparent, high-performance thermoplastic.

Textile
Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Injection Molded Polypropylene (IMPP)
Woofer Surround
A speakers surround is part of the suspension system. The surround protects the cone and prevents it from being displaced as it flexes out from the basket. It is usually made of a durable material like treated foam or rubber in order to withstand the strenuous job of producing bass frequencies.
Rubber
Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
180 watts
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
60 watts
Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
93 dB
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
49 - 21,000 Hz
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
2 ohms
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
2-3/8"
Bottom-Mount Depth
The depth when installed from the bottom of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the top of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
2-1/4"
Cutout Dimensions
Refers to the dimensions of the hole, measured in inches or millimeters, required to contain the speaker.
7-5/16" x 5"
Speaker Grilles
A grating or screen of metal or plastic bars or wires, mounted in front of a speaker as protection. If yes, the speakers will include matching speaker grilles. If no, there are no grilles included.

Ford's best friend

June 2, 2014

Replaced the front door speakers in my 2013 Mustang convertible with these about a month ago. Sonic had a great price and the product arrived in two days. Had to order a speaker bracket from ford for the doors but after that instalation was simple and easy. Sound quality is much improved over stock and these even sound better of the HU than the 682.9.

Great, just Great

May 22, 2014

Installed these in the door of our 2013 Mustang convertible. Due to the premium sound system's stock speakers, I had to order speaker brackets for a 2012 coup but the change was quick and easy. The speakers really provide warm mids and crisp highs. For use with a head unit they out perform their bigger brother 6829 Kappa.

awesome prouct,highly recommend

January 6, 2014

I purchased these for my wife's 02 ford explorer for Christmas. It replaced pioneer 3-ways, and needless to say was far superior than the pioneers. Being that these were 2-ohm speakers, it was like I changed amplifiers as well. Crystal clear highs, an awesome midbass. 110% satisfied with my purchase, great price as well.

eeh....

July 26, 2013

They sounded great at first, but after a while i blew two of my 4 speakers. Granted, I was giving them twice the power I should have, but with other high-end speakers i've noticed they are a lot more durable. If you didn't notice in the specs, infinity speakers ARE 2 OHMS. This is where i went wrong. They're not terrible, but also don't buy just for the name. Rockford Fosgate makes some 6x8's that i prefer much more than these for the similiar price range.

Quality Product

January 6, 2013

Crystal clear speaker. This was a noticeable upgrade over the factory speakers, and distortion isn't an issue. I like the built in tweeter option as well. Bass does lack a little, but I have a sub so it isn't an issue for me. Overall, if you are looking to replace factory speakers, I highly recommend these Infinity ones, especially for the low price.

Nothing Special

June 7, 2012

There is nothing special or worthwhile with this speaker. They sound nice, just same as most speakers over 40 dollar range. The problem is that if you push them loud, their tweeters will go, leaving you with a dull sounding woofer. Do yourself a favor and don't buy just for the name. Don't get any mid priced model when for another 30 bucks you can get the real deal. If you are serious and don't want to waste your money you won't regret spending a little more on the Infinity Kappa 682.9cf... Those do hold up at high levels and sound way better with more depth and natural sounding mids & highs. So remember, the Infinity Kappa 682.9cf are ones to get. These are just mediocre at best. I have both and I now have to replace these because tweeters blew out. I am getting the Precision Power PPI PC572, because it is 3 ohms and has separate crossover and high dB sensitivity and can take more watts RMS. It should sound better at almost half the cost of this one. I look at materials and specs, not dumb name brands that like to cash in on popularity.

clear and accurate speakers

May 21, 2012

I put these in the rear deck of a Mustang to replace some junk speakers the previous owner had installed. The clarity and accuracy of these speakers is exactly as I expected from Infinity. They are not made for systems with big power but they work perfectly with a head unit powered system or a small amp.

Great Christmas Gift

June 25, 2011

This was a purchase for our teenage son's truck (his 1st one). After shopping online & finding this site...we were very happy with the price, quality of the product & prompt service by Sonic Electronix. We would recommend others to take a look at this site to see if they can find what they are looking for before making a purchase on another. This stereo has great sound & the speakers fit perfectly as the information said they would. Thanks :)

Good highs, weak bass

January 2, 2011

Pros: clear mids and highs, rotating tweeter, adjustable treble, cheap, will fit in doors of many cars. Cons: weak mid bass. If you read through the reviews of Infinity's Reference and Kappa speakers, either coaxials or comps, you will gather quickly that these speakers are being liked for their clear mids and highs, but not so much for bass. I own a pair of these speakers. They're in the front doors of my Ford Taurus. My experience with them has been similar to what has already been reported elsewhere. You get nice clear highs and mids. The voices and sound staging feel very good. However, mid bass (forget the low bass) is kinda weak. It's there, it's well controlled, it can be heard, but it's somewhat weak compared to either factory speakers or my pioneers in the rear deck. In the end, these speakers are pretty good for their price. The ideal car setup for these speakers is one where they are in the front doors and bass is handled by a subwoofer.

Great Bass

June 4, 2010

Well, believe it or not, I had a pretty crappy sub in the back of my car, around 250RMS or so, and then I put in these speakers, and I thought that my sub was producing the majority of the bass, turns out my sub had been blown for a while and it was the speakers. Pretty good speakers if you ask me, I'd recommend to anybody, decently clear. If you crank up the bass though it can start to get hissy, but they are speakers not subs, so really shouldn't be much bass coming out of them. Awesome Mids. BTW, great for Fords because they rock the 6x8s all day.
