loud and low
Polk has a winner with this 15! I'm running a single with a sealed box in a small SUV. 500 true watts to this sub allows it to overpower my six full range speakers that are getting 65 watts a piece. The bass is so low it messes with my ears and like I said drowns out the lyrics and music when pushing it. In a sealed box this sub only needs 1.5 cubes, which means I'm buying another one and will still have room for my groceries.
Also the tiny magnet is rare earth, it doesn't need to weigh 300 ounces. Technology has advanced, go with it.

This is a great subwoofer, I've owned it for a year now so its time to write a review. I wanted a efficient sub that could pound with great sound quality and this is it. I have it in a half top jeep so the sub is partly exposed to the elements, no problem there as it is a marine certified sub. I put it in the recommended sealed enclosure, which is not too big of a box at all for a 15 inch sub, which is a good thing for space. During the break in period I hardly had to put 200 rms watts to this thing and it was loud. Now that its broken in, it sounds even better and takes some more power and gets louder. Very power sensitive, hardly have to turn up the sub knob on my 400 rms watt amp at all. The sub sounds wonderful, it hits tight like a good 12 but with depth of a 15. works out beautifully for my setup. Blends well with my 6.5 inch speakers. For anybody wanting to really pound, you could hook up 2 of these and hardly need a 800rms watt amp. The sound quality is awesome, I've owned a kenwood sub, a couple of p2 rockfords, a kicker sub, but this polk is way better and my favorite, I love it. For the price you're definately getting your moneys worth for sure. Great sound quality and capable of serious output for only 425 watts. The build quality is great and the woofer is tuff. Also my jeep is not sealed so bass escapes the cab, but it is still plenty loud for me. If put in a trunk you'll hear and feel it well. Sound quality is just very nice, doesnt sound like a cheapy overly boomy sub, just has a great sound is all i can say. Sounds great with any music. Switched to some classical and the sub sounded rich and lovely, switch to some Ice Cube and it hits with authority. too long of a review already, if you're on the fence, just buy the darn thing.

found this helpful. They said a 15" couldn't be done in an earlier GMC/Chevy Crew Cab Pickup!
I own a 2005 GMC crew cab and wasn't too happy with the bass from four ported 9" subs. The bass was very deep but way too boomy for my taste. So, before I purchased this speaker as a sealed box replacement, I modeled it in a sealed box design using AJboxdesigner which is free off the net and it modeled very well. I also chose it for the efficiency. If my memory is correct, Polk recommends ~1.5 cu ft min. but I gave it just over 2 cu ft using as much space as possible behind the rear seat for a lower Qts of around 0.8. I filled the box loosely with lightly pulled fiberglass insulation. After some fine tuning on my Alpine 9861 DVD in dash with an PXA-H701 audio processor, I was very happy with the overall sound of the bass. If you own a earlier chevy or GMC crew cab truck as I do, the box design is very difficult to fit this speaker and I probably should have chosen three of the MM 10s or MM 12s instead. Yes, this 15" speaker is somewhat of a shallow woofer but the front extends out more than I thought which made the sub box tricky to build and fit this speaker as you have to recess it on the front box baffle 1/2" and if you aren't careful, teh rear magnet will hit the back of the box. My only other complaint is that I wished the speaker was in a diecast basket instead of plastic but that would have increased the overall cost of the speaker considerably.
