Going Green

This thing works great. I keep mine in the cup holder of my car where it can charge. I've always got emergency power that way. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Needs some extensive design work!

I purchased this Solar Charger to keep my BlueAnt Bluetooth handsfree permanently charged. I checked the Standby current and the Active current specs; this device should have been perfect. Wrong!!!
If left on permanently attached to the Bluetooth device, it runs down in one night. If you allow it to recharge from the Sun only, it will never do so. It must be again fully charged from a USB port, then attached to the device. The device must be switched on and off whenever I enter or exit the vehicle. Waste of money as I can just recharge the Bluetooth device with USB and use it for three days between charges. Also the suction caps keep falling off the windscreen. If anyone wants mine they can have for postage. Not even worth half the price as it is a frustrating piece of equipment. Sorry, but that is my finding!

Eh... You get what you pay for.

I really wanted a reliable solar device that i could carry around and charge my iPhone if I needed a quick source of power. As a portable battery it works great. As a solar charger, it leaves much to be desired. I did not realize this when I bought it, but it takes 5 days in full sun to charge the internal battery. If there are clouds, you will likely never charge the battery. I have resorted to simply charging it from my home computer. Given the price, the promises, and the desired functionality, I'd recommend spending the extra bucks to get the real thing, the solo solar chargers.

Best Item for the Price

I have an Android an I always run out of battery. Since I am hardly indoor it is such a hassle not being able to charge my phone unless there's a socket randomly around. Solar charging has really made it more convenient and stopped me from switching phones. This a great item with a great price!

OK external battery, not viable as solar cell

While technically a solar cell, charge time by sun is a ridiculous 5 days. I use it by charging from USB which works ok, but you need to travel with the non-standard cable to do this.

Solar cell underpowered

I bought the Solbat2 for my iPhone to use on camping trips, or just in my car on long trips. I'm very pleased that the Solbat2 actually works with my iPhone 3G. Three other solar products I bought from other manufacturers that work with the iPhone turned out NOT to work at all.
However, I'm disappointed with the solar cell on the Solbat. It seems impossible to charge the internal battery using just the sun. I have had the Solbat sitting on my dashboard literally for two weeks or more and it never seems to charge even halfway. I always have to plug it in to a USB port to get a full charge, and then it fully discharges into my iPhone very quickly. In other words, the capacity of the internal battery is a bit low, but the big disappointment is the inability to get more than a fractional charge Solely from the sun (pun intended). This product is much better suited to charge my iPod nano than my iPhone, and a larger or more efficient solar cell is needed. Would I recommend this to others? Yes, considering it's the first reasonably-priced solar charger that actually works at all with my iPhone 3G. Sure wish it had a more robust solar cell, though.

review on Scosche SOLBAT2

Very usefull, recharge my mp3 player several times with it, takes a little long time to charge with the sun but very usefull. hooks and accessories are better on this model than on teh first one, no special adaptors needed, had a ubs port built-in. fast charging time for my mp3 player and can charge several time whit a full charge.
