Super Great Radio!! Expensive? Naaaaa!!
05/26/2010
After searching on the Internet for Car Radios I saw this one, and the truth is that I got a little scared at first, Not many reviews except the one here in the sonicElectronix site. People said about having to do extra work on some type of vehicles, because the radio will not fit. I have a Kia Sedona Van, with a head monitor for my 3 year old son. When you open the box everything was there, a good manual with all instructions in it and hardware. A very well detailed manual, I should say that a 10 year old boy understands it.
I decided to installed my self, I haven't done this for the past 20 years and decided to give it a try. With the free plug and Din for Sonic, I replaced what ever I had in my factory old radio. All wires came into place, and the radio was working in less than 30 minutes. Time to place it in. I was nervous at first, I had to push and pull some but not much, then came into place.
Radio performance. Oh my god! my factory speakers sound better than with my factory radio, clean and no humming (Super Stereo) now I wonder if my old radio was installed correct when it came from factory. The screen resolution was great!, even in sunny day was beautiful, the touch screen is supper accurate and responsive, the dvd and blue tooth, outstanding, The USB pen (Provided was a cake) I have a GPS so I didn't need the extra expense on the NAVI Thing.
The Screen is great and not Cheese as seen in other Super Brand radio such as some Jensen Radios.
Not interested in the IPod thing so I didn't purchase the cable. So far so good, hope that last forever. I am very pleased and I do recommend this radio to who ever does not to be fulled by Big Brand radios which cost 100ds of dollars and do the same some times less.
I searched You tube and did not see any videos there about the radio. So I will be posting one there. Tittle will be the model number, so that people could find it easy.
Also, before I forgot, this radio comes with a bunch of other input and out put RC connectors for stuff that I don't have a clue what they are for, and not interested on knowing. It does what I need.
250 and change No Shipping, Unbeatable.
Score is 100+ very satisfied
Nope I don't work for the SonicElectronic company nether for Power acoustik I am just Police Officer on a great City in the United States of America.
Good Luck!!!

Big improvement in sound quality over my factory radio. Improves the look of my interior though I am a little bashful about driving around with such a large, colorful screen in my car. Guess I didn't realize how big a 7" screen would be in there. USB, A/V, DVD (music. I haven't tried to play a DVD movie and have no interest in it), bluetooth (music and phone), radio work great. DVD music has a bit of learning curve but it's useful once you get it. Haven't used NAVI (I have Navi on my phone) or Ipod (I heard the ipod feature is a joke so I didn't buy the cable). I downloaded 50 pics from my usb drive to the stereo so far. The screen is big and vibrant. You can also change the brightness, tint, contrast and saturation. Audio settings are kind of bland. EQ- treble and bass, and sub woofer volume control. 3 EQ settings- Jazz, Pop, Rock.
I recommend for those that want a very nice unit and don't mind riding want to spend 3x as much for a 'brand name.'

I bought one of these headunits. It works ok but the way the main wire pig tail fits into the headunit is crap. If it's a tight fit then it won't stay plugged in. Also doesn't support I tunes music video formats which I was kinda disappointed with. Works well overall. Just those few minor complaints.

I ordered this unit for my birthday gift and when I got it I was so excited to install it. My cousin and I installed it in my '07 Pontiac G6 in about an hour or so. PROS:: **The touch screen is very responsive, colors are amazing, great video quality, I'm still waiting for the iPod control cable but I hear its not that great, I have this hooked up to my 2 12" Alpine Type S with a 600w amp and it hits pretty hard.** CONS:: **I can't really figure out how to add my own wallpaper to be my background, a little playing will help though. Also the plug in back doesn't go in all the way but we fixed that with some putty. Overall great unit for the price and I'll stick with it for along time until I sell the G6. Thanks Sonic Electronix!!!

We bought this just before a cross-country trip, so that our daughter (and one of us) could watch movies on the way. It works quite well, but we were upset that you can not see the video on the front screen. What else is the front screen there for? I understand not watching while you're driving, but what about if you have to sit & wait in the car for awhile? Why can the driver not watch then? Also, it is very difficult when there is no adult in the backseat, because my 2-yr-old daughter cannot use the remote, and the person in front has to break their neck to see what the screen says to decide which buttons to press. It is more dangerous having to do this while driving!!!

found this helpful.Strongly advise- get something else.
I've been a car audio enthusiast for 5-6 years, and so did lots of research before ordering this HU. I wanted a 7" screen that was detachable, as I live in a very high-crime area for half of the year. I was ecstatic when I found this, as it had everything I wanted- big screen, video playback from flash drive, etc. However, there were so many things bothering me about it that I finally returned it and spent $140 more on a really good Pioneer. The saying "Buy quality and you only cry once" definitely applies here - I learned the hard way.
Pros:
- Big screen
- Decent resolution
- Cheap
- 4V pre-outs; and 3 sets of them
- Already-fused constant 12V and switched power wires - very nice
- Lots of features for not much money
Cons:
- Tedious, stupid, cheap-feeling UI
- Have to plug and unplug flash drives 5 or so times until they get recognized (have tried multiple drives)
- Terrible, limited EQ options (Bass, Treble, Sub)
- Feels cheap
- Audio/video get out of sync A LOT
- During intense animation or something during a movie, it will freak out and start stuttering and freezing because the HU can't handle it, like an old computer. Then the A/V is always out of sync. (embarassing)
- Remote only works maybe 1/3 of the time- tried replacing battery, but did not help
- Unorthodox design makes fitment tricky
- Navigating through folders, menus can be extremely slow and tedious- and can only be done with the remote.
It is very likely you will run into fitment issues. I have a Double DIN opening in my 2008 Subaru WRX, and was hoping that this would allow me to mount the screen flush if I recess the HU back a bit. However, with the screen attached it is significantly taller than Double DIN. I also had to do about 4 hours of cutting up my install kit to get the HU to fit - more of an annoyance since I've installed several HUs before, but to a first-time installer could prove a major roadblock. I had to mount it so that when the screen is attached, it sticks out completely from the dash. Not exactly classy-looking or clean.
My advice would be if you have the money or can get it soon, spend a bit more on something you won't look at every day and be a little or more disappointed with. I wish I had done this the first time.
