True Power You Can Feel

The T1D212 Power Series 12" Subwoofer by Rockford Fosgate has a peak power rating of 1600 watts and a RMS rating of 800 watts. This sub will produce some ground shaking bass and is constructed with a kevlar fiber reinforced semi pressed paper cone and a VAST santoprene rubber surround. This woofer is also equipped with Inductive Damping Heat Sink, this helps radiate heat to reduce the voice coil temperature and keeps the sub operating at a safe operating temperature when pumping out high amounts of SPL. Add some bumps in your trunk and enhance your cars stereo system with this Power Series Subwoofer.

Rockford Fosgate Swift Terminals

SWIFT: Selectable Woofer Impedance Fused Termination

Making installation faster and easier, Rockford Fosgate developed SWIFT terminals. This system allows the nominal impedance of voice coils to quickly be configured in a Series or Parallel wiring configuration. Removing and inverting the center plug, a Series or Parallel wiring configuration is accomplished. The removable jumper also provides fused protection in severe overload conditions.

 IDHS Inductive Damping Heat Sink

IDHS: Inductive Damping Heat Sink

By securing the Inductive Dampening Heat Sink (IDHS) to the top of the magnet structure, Rockford Fosgate is able to improve the efficiency of their drivers. This is accomplished by reducing the amount of distortion and back Electro-Magnetic Force (EMF). The IDHS also radiates heat to reduce the temperature in the voice coil.

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former

By using an anodized aluminum voice coil former on their subwoofers, Rockford Fosgate is able to dissipate heat from the voice coil more efficiently. A hot voice coil can melt the adhesive bonds, which will lead to eventual subwoofer failure. The aluminum voice coil former acts as a heat-sink to dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil cool during high SPL conditions.

CEA-2031 Rockford Fosgate Subwoofers

Conforms to CEA-2031

Rockford Fosgate has built this subwoofer to conform to the CEA-2031 loudspeaker power handling industry standards. This means that you can trust the subwoofer to have the capacity to safely handle the continuous (RMS) power rating. Having a CEA-2031 power handling is important when matching a subwoofer to an amplifier because the power ratings are accurate.

Rockford Fosgate Stitched Tinsel Leads

Stitched Tinsel Leads

To improve the reliability and performance by reducing fatigue and possible shorting, Rockford Fosgate has stitched the tinsel leads to the spider. The multipoint periodic stitching lead wires reduce the mass of the tinsel leads to spread the stress over a greater area. This improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.

Rockford Fosgate VAST Surround

VAST: Vertical Attach Surround Technique

In order to increase the surface area of the cone without causing any installation issues, Rockford Fosgate designed the Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST). By redesigning the manner in which the surround adheres to the basket, these speakers gain up to 25% more effective radiating cone area. This improves the nominal efficiency and maximum output.

Subwoofer Specifications

Subwoofer Series
Each subwoofer manufactured is part of a series. This is the name of the subwoofer's series.
Power T1 (Rockford Fosgate)
Subwoofer Size
Refers to the diameter of the subwoofer, measured in inches.
12"
Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
1600 watts
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
800 watts
Voice Coil(s)
Dual voice coil subs have more wiring flexibility than single voice coils subs; however, single voice coil subwoofers provide easier hookup options for wiring multiple subwoofers in parallel or series. You may also run a dual voice coil (DVC) sub in parallel, series, or combination. A quad voice coil has four voice coils and is equal to two dual voice coil subwoofers as far as wiring goes.
Dual
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
2 ohms
Voice Coil Diameter
Diameter of voice coil, usually measured in inches.
3"
Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
86 dB
Xmax (millimeters)
Typically measured in millimeters, the Xmax value is the measure of a speaker cone's maximum excursion in one direction while maintaining a linear behavior.
0.65 mm
Subwoofer Design
This is the design of the subwoofer or the opening of the subwoofer enclosure. Each design has it's own benefits, whether it is a square, circle, or oval.

Round/Circle: This is the typical and common subwoofer design. They have a round cone and are a circle in design.

Square: These woofers are able to achieve a greater cone area in a smaller space. Because of the greater surface area, some square subwoofers will be louder than a round subwoofer of the same size.

Round / Circle
Main Cone Color
This is the color of the speaker's or subwoofer's cone.
Dark Gray
Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Kevlar Reinforced Semi-Pressed Paper
Woofer Surround
A speakers surround is part of the suspension system. The surround protects the cone and prevents it from being displaced as it flexes out from the basket. It is usually made of a durable material like treated foam or rubber in order to withstand the strenuous job of producing bass frequencies.
Thermo-Plastic Elastomer
Magnet Structure
Defines the overall structure of the subwoofers magnet.
Double Stacked
Subwoofer Grille
Most subwoofers are able to accommodate a universal grille; however, some subs include a grille and others have a specific, optional grille available for purchase separately. If "yes", then the subwoofer includes a grille. If "optional (sold separately)" the matching grille will need to be purchased in addition to the sub.
No
Re-Cone Kit Available
Some higher end subwoofers have replaceable cone assemblies. In case of a blown woofer, a recone kit allows for a simple replacement, as opposed to purchasing an entire new subwoofer.
No

Electromechanical Parameters

Free-Air Resonance (Fs)
The free-air resonance frequency of the subwoofer, measured in Hz. At this frequency the weight of the moving parts is perfectly balanced with the subwoofers suspension system.
28 Hz
Equivalent Compliance (Vas)
This is the amount of air that has the same stiffness as the subwoofers suspension. The greater the rating, the lower the stiffness and larger recommended enclosure. It is measured in Liters.
55.8 liters
Total Speaker Q Value (Qts)
This is the subwoofers relative damping (Q) at the resonance frequency (Fs), including all dimensionless losses. Essentially, a high Qts value (closer to 1.0) means the subwoofer is great for sealed enclosures and a low Qts value (closer to 0) means the woofer is great in vented enclosures. A Qts of around 0.45 means the woofer will work decently in either enclosure type.
0.52
Electrical Q Value (Qes)
The subwoofers relative damping (Q) at the resonance frequency (Fs), including electrical losses. Also called the mechanical damping of the subwoofer. The unitless measurement usually varies from 0.5 10.
0.59
Electrical Resistance of Voice Coil (Re)
Amount of DC resistance of the subwoofer when measured with an ohm meter. Typically, this will read less than the impedance rating of the subwoofer.
3.25 ohms
Mechanical Q Value (Qms)
This is the subwoofers relative damping (Q) at the resonance frequency (Fs), including mechanical losses. Also called the mechanical damping of the subwoofer. This unitless measurement usually varies from 0.5 10.

Amazing sub

July 25, 2011

This is my first sub ever and I have it in a ported box powered by a Kenwood KAC-9105d amp running at 2 ohms and 900 watts in an extended cab s10. i only have the amp turned up half way and its hard to sit in the truck. For the little extra cash it is totally worth it

Rockford Thunderlude!!

October 15, 2011

I purchased this sub and have it installed into a 1.75" cubic ft. ported box in my Honda Prelude. I am pushing it with a Rockford Fosgate T1000.1 amp @ 1ohm. This sub is as advertised. (very loud!!!!). I replaced 2 Alpine R12's with this one sub and it produces as much bass. I did have my Alpines in a sealed enclosure though. Overall very VERY pleased!! I would recommed Rockford to anyone!!! Also I wasn't unpleased with my Alpines they were GREAT!! I'M just a ROCKFORD guy!!!

Awesome Subs!

September 20, 2011

I have 2 of these subs in my car now in a sealed box to max recommended specs with an old school power 800a2 to each sub. These hit just as hard as the ported 12" l7s I had in there but sound so much better all the way around! They are tearing my grand am apart! And the new switch for the ohm independence is great and easier to use then wiring both coils. Couldn't be happier with these monsters.

Rockford fosgate T1 d2 12"

This is a really good sub and is well worth the money. If you want a system that hits really hard get these. The 12" or the 15" would be my recommendation. They can really handle the power well

Hits Clean & Clear

August 26, 2013

I keep underestimating this sub. I went from two 10"s & 2 12"s to one 12" & this sub tossed those subs out the trunk! So clean & clear bass its impressive. I keep feeding it more volume & it takes it like its nothing. Makes my hair feel like its standing up. Can't look in the rear view or side mirrors for cops, cuz its now just all blur. I made the sub box to specs, carpeted it the same color & material as the trunk & i still have room in the trunk for luggage.

Rockford Review

January 30, 2013

This is my review of the Rockford Fosgate T2D2 12" subwoofer. This speaker gave me good bass response on all levels. I put it in a 3 cubic foot ported box. It was a pretty loud speaker and hard hitting. I would recommend this sub to anybody looking for a hard hitting sub.

Ridiculous

February 29, 2012

I have owned these for about four months. Do not buy them if you ever plan on buying something of lesser grade/value in the future. Nothing will ever be good enough again. Wire them @2 ohm in a ported box. I have 2000 watts going to each sub. There's a good chance you may wet yourself with excitement. These subs will flex your roof, windows, doors, etc if wired and installed correctly. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone even remotely considering. They brought my faith back to the RF product. Back when everything was under rated for competition. You will spend a pretty penny or two on them, but spend it knowing you will never need another sub.

Great sub

November 3, 2011

I've got this sub in a custom center console box for the back of an extended cab f-150. I'ts getting about 2.65 cubes after displacement of the sub and the port. But as far as the sub goes its slams for 1 twelve under 1000 rms. I've got it runnin on a db drive. 1000.1 and it keeps up with all kinds of music. I just wish the sub itself hit the mids a little better. Other than this i think this sub is a pretty good value and I would recomend it.

wow

April 25, 2011

This sub definatly is worth the cash, even though the T2 looked really nice as well, but a little more costly and id need a upgrade on a amp. Anyways I built the high output box for this sub and it does really well, of course make it out of 3"4 MDF! This sub rumbles and shakes my whole truck, i am under watting the sub by a few watts with a kicker sx600 amp and finally after understanding everything it sounded better even though i could have probably gotten a pro to make it sound better, but what the hell id rather know all the things myself for future upgrades. if you do happen to use the high output box i found it sounding rather better with settings for 63LPF with 24 slope and HPF of 25 with 24 slope and center frequency about 47. i usally listen to rap, produces great lows; i was stunned.
