Crossover Specifications

Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

High-pass (HP)
High-Pass Crossover Frequency
The high-pass crossover frequency can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable high-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies above the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies below the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

32 - 400 Hz
Built-in Bass Reconstruction
Bass reconstructors, or bass enhancers, improve low frequency reproduction in a car audio system with at least one subwoofer. These bass expander products will help your subs produce accurate bass thumps.
No
Line Driver
A line driver is a small amplifier used to support the strength of the audio signal coming from the source unit.
No
Max Output Level
The maximum level (in volts) of signal output. A higher level will increase the clarity and boost your signal.
8.5 volts
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
10 - 30,000 Hz
THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)
The amount of change in harmonic content of the signal as it is amplified. A lower figure indicates less change and a more accurate amp. THD below 0.10% is inaudible.
.01%
Signal-to-Noise Ratio
This spec compares the strength of the signal to the level of background noise. A higher value indicates less background noise.
95 dB
Width
The width of the item from left to right (side-to-side) measured in inches.
5-3/4"
Height
The height of the item, measured from top to bottom, in inches.
1-3/4"
Depth
The front-to-rear depth of the item, in inches. If the item is angled or slanted, this value is the bottom measurement.
6-3/4"

Dissapointed at first

December 17, 2013

First of all sonic electronix is the shizznit.. Fast shipment, on time and I always get updates on tracking unlike other online stores..anyways so I hooked the crossover when I received it I hooked it up to my sub amp since I didn't have my mids installed. I messed around with it and I couldn't hear any difference..(maybe I needed more time to tweaked the settings on my head unit and amp settings). After a weak or two I took it out.. Anyways long story short I ended up taking my sub amp and put my mids amp. Crossover has plenty of volume( I can lowered my amp gain) crossover settings are good. I'm not a big fan of Chrome but it actually does not look bad. One think I dion't like is the little plug that hooks up to power, remote and ground comes off easily and also the knob controls are a little flimsy.. Remote has a cheap feel to it.. But overall for the money it's a good buy.

Great x-over for the price.

December 10, 2011

If you are looking for a good cross-over at a reasonable price you found it! I resently installed this unit into a customers truck with other Hifonics components and it worked just as I needed it to. With the included bass knob it gave me all the cross-over frequencies I needed to adjust this custom system nicely. Great equipment for a system on a budget.

You'll be shocked what this product does

September 13, 2011

Everyone in your circle is probably using many amps to give you the response this does. I have this with 4 12" EV's and have heads turning way before I get to where they are. I have always used Hifonics and always will.
