The Precision Power Amp is 1 of 3 I use in my outdoor system. JBL and JL Audio are the other 2. After about 6 months and about 36 hours of use the PPI unit went bad after sitting powered up (along with the other 2) for one hour, no music playing. I had to pay to send it in and provide a $20 money order to have it shipped back. Since I have not received it back yet and not had the chance to use it for a reasonable amount of time I'm not very confident of it's value. I have been told the older Amps from this company were much better. Meantime I've recplaced it with a Rockford Fosgate which I'm very happy with. I am 65 and very experienced with audio systems.

Let's start this out, I have never owned an old school PPI, so I can't compare the differences. But what I do know? Is this is supposed to be their top of the line? The amp is large and has a little weight to it, as expected. The amp does sound great and has some power. Haven't clamped, but I would imagine right around the numbers it claims. It really does sound great for the price. I can't think of anything better for the price if you're buying new. It can be run active, which is nice. Seems like many amps can these days.
Now for the bad: I can't stand the connector pieces to wire everything together. They are very difficult to work with, and when inserting them into the amp it is a bit difficult and seems as if you could break something. Next, the amp gets extremely hot. Even in a well ventilated area. If you commute a long way every day, it will need a fan. Or simply just get something else instead. Because when pushed hard and long it will go into protect
It's sad to know it does that. Just like sound streams amps. Such a great product to have that happen with.
The whole damping factor and all that. Pretty much pointless from my understanding as to what it should mean when pushing subs.
Overall, a great amp that does sound great, just some issues that need to be worked out, but probably never will.

I bought 4 PPI amps in 1991 (Art Series) and wish I would have held on to them. But for the money that they sell for today, you can't go wrong with this amp.
