The Grado SR80i headphones are built on the same platform as the popular SR60i headphones and prove to be a excellent everyday headphone for those that are serious about their music. In manufacturing, The inner diaphragms go through a unique "de-stressing" process that enhances the inner details of the music, provides a open soundstage, and improves that audio reproduction. Each side of the headphone features a non-resonant air chamber that allows improved sound quality and detail. Including the the box is 1/4" jack adapter that makes it the perfect companion for MP3 players, iPods, as well as home receivers and other professional equipment. The improved version of the SR80 features greater control of the lower and upper range of frequencies. Full, rich, and warm music is what the Grado SR80i headphones are all about! I am quite satisfied with the quality of the sound. Some people may find these uncomfortable. Bear in mind that after a break-in period, they will become comfortable. Since these are over-ear and maintain a continuous pressure on your ears, I have found that when I bite down (something we all do occasionally and unconsciously), I actually muffle the sound somewhat. A minor annoyance. It seems to have improved with the break-in.

The sound with these headphones is really great but there are some downsides. They are not really comfortable after a long session and they leak a lot of sound.

Really good and the best headphone for the price. I used it with my mp3 player and direct to the house music system. I will buy an another for a gift.

Seriously sweet sound with fat round bass just like it was recorded.
No problems with comfort once adjusted and I've travelled with them and am happy with the durability, when boxed.
I didn't realise how much ambient noise they'd let in (a fair bit, when you're listening to dynamic audio) and was disappointed with how much noise they let out (lots - can't use them sitting in the office next to someone or they get annoyed!).

Works great with digital format players. Low static distortion and very precise with accurate beat and tone emulation. Works fairly well with DAC under low wattage. But tend to shine with .wav and .mp3~4. Nothing but good experience; drivers in unit open up a complex listening experience which is excellent for live recordings in large arena's. Low volume listening is great also with distinctive high and low pass. Do not confuse these with entry level Grado headphones in my opinion these were designed specifically for digital format players. Or at least they fulfill this role better than most. If looking for a mind tingling DAC amplified experience I would recommend the Grado 225i because they seem to handle the higher volumes better. But to sum up the SR80i, I was surprised and woo'ed by what I received in these units.
