Vehicle: 2002 BMW 330i
I discarded both the supplied rectangular plastic shim and stereo's metal sleeve. The stereo was a very tight fit (Pioneer DEH-P5200HD). I also had to get a key-hole saw to remove a plastic brace in the rear that the factory radio had used to get all the cables and harness adapter to fit behind the new stereo. BMW does NOT make it easy.

not much to say about a piece of plastic, other than the fact that it fit well and is listed for a great price.
