Worth every dollar
I know that most people dont understand the true value of a GOOD pair of headphones. Unfortunately, this whole digital era has has seriously tarnished the value of "Real Audio". More and more people are using their MP3s and their Pandora Radio, which I completely understand the convenience of those. But if your phone is your music source, and its full of your MP3s or your iTunes downloads, then you probably are looking at the wrong item.
For the rest, I am sure you are looking because you have already owned a pair of Grado Headphones. My guess would be the SR60, 60i, SR80i, mine was the original SR60. Couldnt have loved anything more than my SR60s. They had come highly recommended to me by agent. He had made a few comments about me wearing my old Sennheiser headphones on our flight back into the states. At the time, I thought they were the best thing out there. The next time I was at his place I tried my very first Open Back (Air) cans. I have to say, it truly was life changing. I spent a LOT of money of money on my home theater, and a very fair amount on my bedroom stereo. Vienna Acoustics are as gorgeous as they are perfect sounding. I had a special contractor come out and do all of the cables, and tuning. He was very particular about the placement of my towers. Like, more particular than I am about my car. It was worth it. The sound stage paints an image of a live performance. That is what I hear when I listen to my new cans. The Grado RS1i are the best headphones ever. They are better than my Sennheisers, and I spent a good amount of money on them 6 years ago. But these are not something one would wear on the plane. These deserve their own environment, just like I gave my stereo. They deserve an amp that live up to the demands. They deserve a sound source that has not been compressed and distorted. They also deserve a controlled environment. I could not be happier. They are my Vienna's in a much smaller, and quiet version. 12 out of 10. A+++++++ 120%
