Power Specifications - Full Range Channels

RMS Power @ 4 ohms

The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far.

If the final impedance of your speakers or subwoofers equals 4 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound.

1800 watts x 1 channels
RMS Power @ 2 ohms

The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far.

If the final impedance of your speakers or subwoofers equals 2 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound.

2500 watts x 1 channels
RMS Power @ 1 ohm

The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far.

If the final impedance of your speakers or subwoofers equals 1 ohm, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound.

Amplifier Specifications

Amplifier Series
This designates the series of the amplifier. Many amps are available in a litany of different wattage and channel configurations, but maintain consistent features throughout the product line.
Anarchy (Planet Audio)
Amplifier Class

An amplifier increases the power of the signal being fed to it by taking energy from its power supply and matching the signal but increasing its amplitude. Amplifiers use many different methods for converting these electrical signals and have been categorized into classes.

Class A/B: Greater than 50% of the input signal is amplified while the other percentage is “off”. These amplifiers have a small amount of current flowing through the output transistors all the time which almost eliminates crossover distortion. Class A/B has great sound quality but is not as efficient as class D. These amps are most commonly used to drive speakers.

Class D: Also known as switching amplifiers, class D amps have output transistors that are completely turned “on” or “off”. This means that when the transistors are on, there is almost no voltage across them but when they are off there is significant voltage but no current flowing through it which makes these amplifiers very efficient at the cost of sound quality. These amps are most commonly used to drive subwoofers.

Other Classes: You may see classes such as GH, bD, X, FD, etc. by some manufactures. These amplifiers tend to be either class A/B, D or a hybrid of the two but with improvements to their designs that can make them more efficient or offer better sound quality.

D
Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.
1 - Mono
Total Peak Power Output
The total peak power output is measured as the wattage per channel multiplied by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

It is measured during a brief musical burst, such as a sudden drum accent. Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal.

The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.

5000 watts
Total RMS Power Output
Total RMS power is measured by multiplying RMS power per channel by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

RMS power is the amount of continuous power, measured in watts, that an amplifier produces is called RMS power. The higher the RMS figure, the louder and cleaner your music sounds.

The RMS output figure is much more accurate than the peak rating when comparing products.

3500 watts
Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Low-pass (LP)
Subsonic Filter
Allows you to block (filter) ultra-low frequencies that your subs cannot reproduce.
15 - 40 Hz
Signal-to-Noise Ratio
This spec compares the strength of the signal to the level of background noise. A higher value indicates less background noise.
105 dB
Bass Boost
The objective of the bass boost is to get more kick out of your subwoofer. It is a circuit that emphasizes the lower frequencies at a given point. The bass boost should always be set first before setting the gain. This feature is known for destroying subwoofers and is commonly used incorrectly, so be cautious.

Impressed!

December 5, 2013

I bought this amp (Planet Audio ac5000.1d) to power my 15.4 Orion HCCA. i didn't think it could move the monster sub but it did amazingly well. It wasn't cheap because i had to buy 2 XS Power 3400d batteries so my lights in my car wouldn't dim plus the 0 gauge wire. Once you have the power for the amp, I highly recommend this amp. Had it for about 3 or more months and still no problems and running strong. With Sonic Electronix's fast shipping it only took 2 days to show up on my front porch. So thank you Sonic Electronix!

April 21, 2014

I highly recommend this amplifier! I have two of them. They do exactly what they say they do! My friends can't believe how effective these 2 amplifiers are. Thanks sonic electronics for making it easy and affordable! My amplifiers were tested at 1ohm @ 14.8 volts and mines are doing 4187 watts and 4193 watts! My planet audio ac 5000.1 d's are awesome!

great amp for the money

December 9, 2013

Well let me start off by saying if you are looking for 5000 watts do not buy this amp. It is 5000max not rms. But when making a purchase like this u should do your homework and know these things. Now to the amp its self. This amp is great for me I was looking for 3000rms at 1ohm. And it does that all day long. It beats my two planet audio bb2400 12" Subs hard. I gave it only two stars on ease of use and durability because the first one I bought completely blew up on me after a month. It poped and filled my truck with smoke and the back fed and blew up my remote turn on on my deck. But I knew some had done that before I bought it so I returned it which was a breeze at sonic electronix. And now I've got one that works and I love it . I had mine clamped and it is doing 3280 watts at 1ohm and I couldn't be happier . Because I wasn't looking for 5000watts just at least a solid 2500watts so im super pleased .

I got this amp back in Oct. of 2013, it lasted about a month & a half, before it started going in & out of protection mode! I have it hooked up to 2 12" American Bass XFL. It was hitting hard; way better than my last set-up. But anyways, I returned it to where I got it from for a new with no problem & I'm right back beating! After reading some of the reviews, I guess I'm not the only one that this has happened to. But other than that, it seems to be a good amp for the money & does power my subs!! Hopefully you get one that doesn't blow in a month or so & can write a better review but for the price it will power whatever you're trying to push!!

Beast Amp.

June 11, 2012

Purchased this AMP to power two 10" 6OhmDVC Audiobahn's that required major power and this AMP was flexing those bad boys @ 1.5Ohm. I loved the look and feel of the AMP, it was just 1 1/2" too big to fit behind my QuadCab dodge RAM. Had I removed the insulation and built an AMP rack (which is the right way), it would have fit. But it was just too much work. The good news is the helpful guys at Sonic let me swap the AMP and I paid the difference of course. Any how, this AMP provided excellent power to those 10's.

Bought 3, Worst Amps I've ever bought.

June 23, 2015

I loved the price of these. The risk of one going bad based on the reviews seemed great for the price. Also, the wattage output claims, and being stable at 1 Ohm impressed me, so I purchased three of them at once.
The first Planet Audio AC5000.1D replaced a BAMF 5500. It could not come close to the power output of the BAMF 5500. After about a week, it picked up smoking and died.
The other two were strapped. Again the power output was insanely underwhelming. While trying to adjust the settings after installation, another amp started smoking and died.

Pros: Inexpensive, Great connection posts on amp, easy installation, nice manual. external fuse is decent.

Cons: WEAK, Low Output, high failure rate, No onboard fuses.
They Smoke and Die

Thankx to andrew....and planet audio

May 24, 2012

Had some issues with r/b amps. With Andrew's help, and a little more money, I am very impressed with his customer service skills. Thanks again, Andrew!!!! As for the amps, I am running one on each of my 15" mofo subs, and now it is hitting twice as hard as it did with the Boss Phantoms.

P.S. Don't run the r/b Phantoms 5000d under a 2 ohm load. They just can't handle it, and again, I have to say thanks to Andrew for hooking me up with these Planet Audio 5000.1d amps for a good price. I will be calling you again, Andrew.

my original plan was to have 2 of these. 1 for each sub but I decided to try just 1 to push my Lanzar Maxp154ds in a 8.0 sealed enclosure wired @1ohm and it beats ur brains out. i have the system in 97 Cherokee Country and its the loudest system ive had to this day it was tuned at R.S here in the upstate SC and the rms output @ 14.4v was just under 3000 watts. it blew my mind because I didn't think that could have been achieved with my stock electrical setup, but by far 1 amp is all I needed so im happy with the outcome of it. there is no need to add a second amp but I am upgrading my battery and alternator. soon ill have a new box built and ported this time instead of sealed and have it tuned to about 38-40hertz. over all I do recomend this amp for the price you wont be disappointed if everything is installed correctly and tuned properly

I just got my system installed with this amp pushing two Kicker CVX 15s and this thang hits so hard... There were a few skeptics about this amp before I got it but when they heard my system they changed their minds. Really a great amp!

i was just wondering how bad the wattage fluctuation is on the AC5000.1D in the 2ohm configuration with or without a capacitor? i would be running 0 or 2 gauge, with one battery for a little while. thanks!
A shopper on Aug 7, 2014
Best Answer: The amp performs real good at 2ohms! It depends on what speakers you going to use! I am using kicker 12" l-5 square speakers 2 ohm! My system hits real hard! I put a cap to help out the amp! It has a lot of power! The cap is needed so you pull to much power from your battery and it will make your head lights dim or work your alternator to much and burn it out

I currently own a Brutus BRZ 2400.1D which is 2400 RMS x 1 @ 1 Ohm and It's pushing Two 12" American Bass XFL 12's rated at 1K RMS Each. The subs can handle 1500-1800 RMS each so I was wondering if this Planet audio would be a good upgrade from my Brutus and if so, why is it half the price? Am I missing something here?
A shopper on Aug 11, 2014
Best Answer: i would not try to push two subs at 1 ohm with this amp. I doubt it would last long and if it did it would overheat a lot. Im currently pushing an audiopipe 1200w rms 15 and the amp is wired at 4 ohms and it pounds. I even turned the gain down a little. The amp is well worth the money and the reason it's cheap is because this place is a huge warehouse in louisville, not some audio retailer on the side of the road. Run your two speakers at 2 ohms with this amp and it should have no problem pushing them to peak performance.

I have 2 Boss phantoms running at 1250 rms @4ohms. I going to hook both of them up to the amp. Will this amp put them at 1800 watts each or divide that into 900 for each?
TeamHeartless 4 on Jun 29, 2015
Best Answer: That depends on how strong your electrical is in your car. That's a decent amp. I think you'll like it, but you may need more actual power for your subs!

what amp wattage do I need 2 push 2 6x9, 2 51/4 Sony speakers?
A shopper on Oct 16, 2014
Best Answer: definitely not this amp. This pig is for subs. What is the RMS of these speakers? If they are significantly different you may need two amps, one for each, if they are similar then a 4 channel amp will do. I got me a sony explode 600.4 to push a similar setup and it works like a charm.

Why's there no fuses?
A shopper on Oct 14, 2014
Best Answer: Hello,

Your question should be directed to the manufacture or whomever engineered the amplifier. Keep in mind, this is an Entry Level product and may lack external fuses to cut cost. This , of course, is just a guess. Nonetheless, the manufacture - via the manual, linked below - suggest the following:

"AC5000.1D: 160A (200A)" [note: This format implies the amp naturally has a 160A rating and requires a 200A external fuse]
