General Features

Security System Type
This indicates whether the product is a security car alarm product, remote start module, or a combo unit that offers security with remote start features.

Security: This means that the car alarm system is just that. No bells and whistles, just a car alarm system.

Remote Start: when installed, this allows the user to start a vehicle from a remote location. Remote start modules and security with remote start alarms often require an additional vehicle specific bypass module to complete installation.

Security with Remote Start: This means that the system incorporates both features listed above.

Security with Remote Start
Car Alarm
If "Yes", the system will have alarm security features to help prevent vehicle theft and tampering. Remote start modules without alarm features will have "No" for this value.
Remote Start
If the alarm or remote start module has "Yes" for this value then the system has an electronic device that allows you to start your vehicle by remote control without actually being inside the vehicle or using the key. The remote start system supplies the vehicle with power and simulates a start just as if you were inside using the key. Select vehicles require additional accessories or immobilizer/bypass modules to use the remote start feature.
Keyless Entry
Keyless entry allows you to remotely lock, unlock, and open the trunk of a vehicle if that is equipped with power door lock motors (actuators) and power truck motor (solenoid). Door lock controls via the remote are found on nearly all of today's car alarms.
2-way Paging
Alarms with 2-way paging inform the user via remote vibrating/audible/visual alert when the alarm is triggered. The pager must be within range to receive the transmitted signal.
Number of Remotes
The number of remotes included with the alarm system purchase.
Number of Buttons on Primary Remote
The amount of buttons on the Primary Remote generally equals the number of functions that you can use your remote for. Some remotes have auxiliary buttons which can perform more than one task per button.
Main Transmitter Type
LCD and OLED transmitters display various screen savers, warnings, alerts and other features on the face of the remote, rather than first generation button-only transmitters. They provide more information typically and other features.
Sidekick Remote Transmitter Type
Some car alarms and remote start systems come with more than 1 transmitter, which is referred to as the "sidekick" transmitter. Most LCD/OLED systems come with a button-only sidekick transmitter, while select units come with an additional LCD/OLED transmitter.
LED/Display Color
The color of the LED indicator(s) on various items such as button-only car alarm transmitters, various chargers, cell phone accessories and other products.

For OLED or LCD car alarm remotes/transmitters the display color refers to the color(s) of the screen.
Number of Vehicles Supported
Some higher end car alarm systems can support multiple vehicles. This is the number of vehicles that the works with.
Number of Auxiliary Outputs
The number of auxilary outputs that the car alarm system supports. These outputs are left over from the total number of channels. They can be used to add on other options or additional features to a vehicle.
PC Programmable
Custom, advanced programming options through one or more of the following: PC, Pocket PC, PALM Pilot, Valet SW or Remote Transmitter allows for advanced controls of your alarm's functions.
Smartphone Compatibility
These are the types of smartphone systems that the car alarm system is compatible with.
GPS Tracking
These car alarms enable a user to track the position of the vehicle using GPS satellites.
Professional Installation Recommended
This will indicate whether or not we recommend going to a professional installer for this item. Some items have complex installations that should only be done be professional certified installers.
Built-in Bypass Module
System Type
This refers to the type of remote start system, whether it is an add-on or a complete kit.

Convenient Features

Panic Mode
Panic mode allow the user to be able to set off the alarm from the remote.
Trunk Release
The trunk release option allows for integration and control of the trunk latch. Additional parts may be required.
Valet Mode
Valet mode is a car alarm setting that adjusts system to less sensitive settings when allowing a valet to park your car and similar settings.

Alarm Features

Paging Range
The maximum distance that the car alarm system will work with the wireless remotes.
Not Specified by Manufacturer
Number of Car Alarm Channels
The total number of channels that the car alarm system supports. These channels can include locking and unlocking doors, opening the trunk, remote start, and many other options.
Most car alarms come with a siren that can be installed. The siren will sound when the car alarm is triggered the alarm goes off.
Shock Sensor
The shock sensor is designed to trigger an alarm on light or heavy impacts and vibrations (standard sensor included with most alarms).

A dual zone shock sensor is a feature of proximity and shock sensors only. Zone 1 ( light impact on shock sensor and short motions(adjustable) on proximity sensor) will trigger warn away chirp to warn intruder that car has an alarm without setting off the full alarm. Zone 2 (heavy impact on shock sensor and extended motions(adjustable) on proximity sensor) will trigger the alarm to “go off”.

Cold Start Timer
Great for those on a set schedule who need their vehicle to warm up at a specific time every morning for example.

Whether this system can be installed in European vehicles ?
I have Opel Vectra B produced 2000th
A shopper on Apr 3, 2015
Best Answer: Im not from Europe, so i can't say for sure. However, most of the vehicles manufactured from 2000 up have the same principle security setup. This will work with all Japanese made vehicles. But u need a separate bypass module to use the remote start. This system will work with any none transponder keyed vehicle. I hope this helps somewhat.

do i have to buy anything else to make this work ?
coach rick on Nov 22, 2014
Best Answer: Hello Rick,

Your vehicle may need a bypass , in order to access the Remote Start feature. You did not provide any vehicle information, so I cannot determine this for you; However, you can check yourself. Use the fit guide below, if it suggests the Omega OL-MDB-ALL, then that is the bypass you seek.

how hard is this to install ?
coach rick on Nov 22, 2014
Best Answer: Hello Rick,

The answer to your question is going to be fairly subjective. By no means is this install the equivalent of getting a Circle-Peg into a Round Hole, but to some it is Exactly that. All we can suggest, is seeking a Professional Install if you have not done your own homework or are not experienced with such an install. We encourage DIY Projects, but Alarms/Remote-Start systems are far more precarious than a simple audio system, for example.

will this work on a 2003 Chevy Tahoe suv with factory alarm? Need a remote start
A shopper on Dec 30, 2014
Best Answer: Hello,

Kits like the 4000RS are universal, so will work with Any vehicle (provided its fuel injected, of course). However, what makes the REMOTE START feature "vehicle specific", is the Bypass that most modern vehicles need; Your vehicle is one of these "modern vehicles". Using the link below, you will see that the suggested bypass is the OL-MDB-ALL, so please do not forget to also add that to your order, or else the vehicle will NOT turn on.

Do you have to buy the bypass separatly from the auto start system?
Nicholas V on Dec 11, 2014
Best Answer: Hello Nicholas,

It appears that none of our customers have answered your question, so we will; The BYPASS is sold separately. You can use the link below to establish if your vehicle requires one. If it suggests the OL-MDB-ALL, then that is the bypass you seek.

Does this alarm system work on any make or model vehicle, and is there any thing that needs to be purchase to go with the system?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2014
Best Answer: Hello ,

Yes; This is why the descriptions omits a Vehicle Compatibility list, because there isn't one. However, some vehicle require a Bypass to access the Remote Start Feature. To determine if Your vehicle does, use the fit guide below. If it refers to the Omega OL-MDB-ALL, then that is the bypass you seek.

hello, my name is joe.
I've thought about getting a remote starter added onto my car for years. However, I own 2002 Mini Cooper S with a MANUAL 6 spd transmission.....the clutch is required to be on the floor before the ignition will engage. I've wondered if that can be bypassed, or if the remote starter has countermeasures in the circuitry? This question has bugged me for far too long, and now that it's winter, I would like to put this question to bed finally. thanks for your help!
joe t on Nov 24, 2014
Best Answer: Hello Joe,

Remote Starts into manual transmissions is a common upgrade. It is VERY important that you pick up a system that has the ability to be integrated into such a vehicle. For example, the Excalibur AL-1851-EDPB specifically says it can. In addition, this setup MUST be installed by a Professional that has the ability to do so.
