AKG Q460-BLACK Quincy Jones Signature On-Ear Headphones (Black)

I recently left my pair of Q460s on a plane and have been sorely missing them. I own many sets of pro headphones in my recording studio and am quite spoiled by them - so when I needed a pair of portable 'phones my standards were already very high. These headphones delivered on all counts; price, quality and clarity w/out sacrificing full-range sound. They are not overly bass emphasized (like the Monster Beats line) but they do have a solid low end. The mids & highs are crisp w/out being harsh & they'll improve with age. So I'm buying a replacement set. 5 stars from me!

Wow, I must say I disagree with "BASS's review". I have heard every Beats headphone on the market. The Studio's are a different style. Designed for Bass with an amplified driver and noise cancelling. The Pro, well they are excellent. But the Solo? You've got to be kidding me. Those Solo headphones are little puny attempts at a fashion statement at best.



They are empty and sound lifeless on any type of recording worth listening to. I had purchased the Solo HD headphones almost a year ago and returned them for that reason. I thought they were fakes; they were really that bad. But it was from Monster's website. I spent a little more time with my next purchase.



I did a lot of research on these. I don't care for the over-the-ear style, because they are heavy and my ears get hot after a while. That's why I tried the Solo HD. After much reading, I went with a classic Quincy Jones headphone from another classic, AKG. You can't put both of these two together and not have a quality product. Just because it's got your favorite rapper's name on it doesn't say anything about the sound. Open your ears.



I have had these for 9 months now, and I paid $129 for mine and they were worth every penny. They keep their clarity even when I am really bumping them. I have had numerous friends and co-workers seriously impressed by these headphones, and some of them have been suckered into marketing too. Well, my ears are open, and I hear quite well. The only thing even comparable is the build quality. Same plastics, but I guess that's what to expect; so are most car parts inside too.
