Prime subwoofers are ready to rock and are the perfect first step into performance audio. The Prime R2 12" subwoofers have a peak power rating of 500 watts and a continuous RMS power rating of 250 watts. This makes them an ideal subwoofer for anyone looking to add some modest low end to their car audio system. The Prime R2 drivers feature an anodized aluminum voice coil formers for extreme heat dissipation that allow the driver to perform at optimum level during long hard hitting sessions. These subwoofers are the way to go when looking for a woofer that is built with quality & performance in mind and has been designed by industry's leading car audio manufacture.
These woofers, like their Punch brethren, are built using many of the same speaker technologies that Rockford has been famous for over 30 years for and you won't break the bank buying one. Simply put, the Prime seriesof woofers are held to the same standards of quality and performance as any other Rockford woofer but delivered at an affordable price.
Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former
By using an anodized aluminum voice coil former on their subwoofers, Rockford Fosgate is able to dissipate heat from the voice coil more efficiently. A hot voice coil can melt the adhesive bonds, which will lead to eventual subwoofer failure. The aluminum voice coil former acts as a heat-sink to dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil cool during high SPL conditions.
Conforms to CEA-2031
Rockford Fosgate has built this subwoofer to conform to the CEA-2031 loudspeaker power handling industry standards. This means that you can trust the subwoofer to have the capacity to safely handle the continuous (RMS) power rating. Having a CEA-2031 power handling is important when matching a subwoofer to an amplifier because the power ratings are accurate.
Stitched Tinsel Leads
To improve the reliability and performance by reducing fatigue and possible shorting, Rockford Fosgate has stitched the tinsel leads to the spider. The multipoint periodic stitching lead wires reduce the mass of the tinsel leads to spread the stress over a greater area. This improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.

Disappointed...
I had 2 of these hooked up to a rockford fosgate p300 running at rms power and within a few hours, both subs were out of commision. the voice coil went out on one, and the other simply quit playing mid song. I was only listening to them at about half volume of my head unit. but for the time that it did work it sounded excellent. i just expected so much more from rockford fosgate.

I installed 2 of these in a 99 chevy 2500 4 door they sound good for such a small sub. Depending on where and how you mout em ported/sealed depends on how they will sound in my case they added that extra low end fill i needed for great sound quailty.

My first shallow mount sub and I was worried it wouldn’t sound near as good as a standard depth subwoofer. That wasn't the case at all!

Purchased this Sub to put in my 09" Tundra. I've been running 300w @ 4 ohms to it four about a year in a sealed box. Sounds great for an entry level sub. Just remember, GOOD IS RELATIVE TO YOUR APPLICATION!!!!!. If you want bass below 40HZ this may no bet the sub for you. It has difficulty with most modern RAP music because of all of the 30Hz notes. However, this has been a good reliable sub and sounds great depending on the music your listening to and the environment you are putting it in!
