Eliminate Entry Level and Go Straight to Prime

Sonic Electronix is now carrying the brand new 2011 line of Rockford Fosgate Prime Series Car Audio Subwoofers. The R2SD4-12 12" subwoofer has a peak power rating of 500 watts and a continuous RMS power rating of 250 watts giving you a comfortable amount of bass when installing one or some real deep bass when installing more than one. This shallow mount subwoofer is ideal for those with limited space but that still want a system that kicks. Equipped with anodized aluminum voice coil formers for extreme heat dissipation, will allow this sub to perform at optimum level during long hard hitting sessions. Perfect for sealed or ported enclosures the R2SD4-12 is the way to go in 2011 when looking for Prime performance with an affordable price tag.

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former

By using an anodized aluminum voice coil former on their subwoofers, Rockford Fosgate is able to dissipate heat from the voice coil more efficiently. A hot voice coil can melt the adhesive bonds, which will lead to eventual subwoofer failure. The aluminum voice coil former acts as a heat-sink to dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil cool during high SPL conditions.

Conforms to CEA-2031

Rockford Fosgate has built this subwoofer to conform to the CEA-2031 loudspeaker power handling industry standards. This means that you can trust the subwoofer to have the capacity to safely handle the continuous (RMS) power rating. Having a CEA-2031 power handling is important when matching a subwoofer to an amplifier because the power ratings are accurate.

Stitched Tinsel Leads

To improve the reliability and performance by reducing fatigue and possible shorting, Rockford Fosgate has stitched the tinsel leads to the spider. The multipoint periodic stitching lead wires reduce the mass of the tinsel leads to spread the stress over a greater area. This improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.

I am i huge fan of this brand and the R2sd4-12 was just another example of why it is such an amazing brand. This is an excellent subwoofer, it's cheap, and it fits in small spaces. Can't ask for much more.

The speaker sounds incredible. I built a speaker box to replace the stock floor in the hatch area of my Mazda3 because I didn't want to use up all of my valuable storage space with a speaker box. Since my dimensions only allowed me a 3" mounting depth and approx. a 1cu. ft enclosure volume, I had to start shopping around for a shallow mount speaker that would work with such a small enclosure.

I have the speaker powered by an old Kicker ZR360 in bridged mode @ 4 ohms. With this set up, I'm putting about 360 watts RMS into the speaker. Let me tell you, the speaker downright bumps.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this speaker to anyone looking for a shallow mount and/or low volume speaker setup.

At first like everyone else i doubted that these would hit hard brcause they were shallow. I was so wrong they hit hard . I can be heard coming down the street . And it doesnt take much space . I have them in my dodge ram quad cab and these are so worth it . Such a great product.

I had them bridged to 2 ohms to some old 800watt amp i bought for 20 bucks. they slap! knocked super hard and sounded great. i have 2 in a truck box for my ext cab silverado. the amp kept going into protect mode...come to find out it was the wrong amp...so now i have them wired to 4 ohm set up and they just sound like good speakers. I ordered a 1400 watt amp so we will see how they like that!
