I purchased these fans to ventilate a crawl space under my house. The fans are the perfect size to cover the core openings in a standard 8" concrete block, which is lying on its side in the footing course. I wired the fans to a 12v A/C adapter, and they have been running continuously since the day of their purchase.

Great fan

December 9, 2013

I initially purchased for my car radio bc it was running too hot on long trips and the fan worked out great. I ran a second amp to take stress of the radio and am now currently using to cool my sub amp. could probably be used for computers but this suited my needs. I recommend this is a great product and a great price.

I'm considering using one or more of the Xscorpion FAN61 fans you offer for cooling some of my electronics equipment in very tight spaces in my motorhome.
I have had a bad experiences with a previous cooling fan project. I tried to hook up a computer cooling fan to my regular 12 volt supply - making sure that the polarity was correct and the fan would never run. I went to the trouble of soldering the small diameter wires to blade connectors as well. I took it back to the computer supply store where I bought it and they tested it and it worked on their test bench?

Is this fan ( FAN61) easy to hook up? For example can I just hook it directly to a 12-volt source and use an automotive 'rocker' switch in line to turn it on and off. Or is there some other method of connection that I'm missing? Does it need a relay, etc?

Best Answer: Well, for me this has been a great fan. Yes it is that simple as you describe. No relay is needed. However, with my situation I am using it for car audio. I hooked up 4 of these to keep 2 amplifiers cool. Because of my layout and amp rack, etc. I did hook mine up to a relay so as not to short out my remote turn on from the headunit. But when I tested these, all I did was hook it up straight to the battery and they work just fine. Just need to make sure they won't drain the battery when off. Amp draw is .25. Hope this helps in your decision making.
