I bought this for my 2001 Ford Taurus to I could put an aftermarket radio in my car. Once you get the radio out with the special tool for Ford factory radios, replacing the panel with this one was a breeze. It took about 5 minutes to take some of the factory controls and re-attach them to this unit.
One thing to watch out for is when you are taking the factory piece out. When using the special tools, don't break the clips that hold the entire radio unit in place. You can't buy them aftermarket or even from the dealer. I ended up having to go to a junkyard because I broke one when trying to take it out of the dash.
One suggestion I would make to Scosche is to make the controls backlit when the dash lights are on. At night, you can't see what the setting are for the heat, fan, etc.
Other than that, it is a good product and I would recommend it.

this was very good and sturdy until one day i was trying to take it out to run RCA cables and the clip broke. so now its in there and the clip got put back together with super glue and duct tape. also the lights dont work cuz the wire they have u hook it up too keeps the lights on ALL THE TIME. which will drain battery eventually. overall not bad. just needs updating.

This installation kit was a good solution to the factory ford Taurus stereo problem. It fit well without any modification, and was only moderately difficult to install. The main headache during installation was figuring out the wiring schematics for the sub-model/year of our vehicle.
