Sound To Suit Any Car

Our TS-G6844R speakers are excellent choices to replace a bad set of factory 6" x 8" speakers. Their two-way design handles 250 watts max. power, 40 watts RMS, and feature Pioneer’s extremely strong and lightweight IMPP composite cone woofer, for improved sensitivity and reduced distortion. You don't get just basic, run-of-the-mill features either. The conex damper delivers higher power handling and deeper bass, and the 1-3/16” balanced dome tweeter with ferrite magnet reproduces highs with great performance and musicality. These speakers are designed with a shallow mounting depth for easy installation and custom-fit baskets for Ford and Mazda vehicles.

Speaker Features:

  • 6" x 8" G Series 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers
  • Power Handling:
    • Peak: 400 watts per pair / 250 watts each
    • RMS: 60 watts per pair / 40 watts each
  • IMPP Composite cone woofer
  • 1-3/16" Poly-Ether Imide Balanced Dome tweeter
  • Internal 130g Neodymium magnet structure
  • Frequency response: 30-30,000 Hz
  • Top-mount depth: 2-5/16"
  • 1-year SonicElectronix.com warranty

Speaker Specifications

Series
This is the manufacturer product line of speakers.
G-Series / TSG (Pioneer)
Priced Per
Car Speakers are typically sold in pairs so you will receive 2 speakers for each speaker purchase on speakers marked "Priced Per Pair". If a speaker is marked "Priced Per Each" then the speaker is sold individually and each purchase you make will result in 1 speaker. High-powered tweeters, midrange and full-range pro audio for car speakers are typically sold per each speaker.
Pair
Speaker Size
Refers to the size of the speaker measured in inches. Every vehicle has standard application sizes. Please use our vehicle fitment guide for your vehicle's specific speaker sizes if you do not know them.
6" x 8"
Design
The number of individual drivers in a car speaker. Speakers with 2 drivers are known as a 2-way, and 3 drivers are known as a 3-way. Component systems are often referred to as "separates" because the tweeter is not attached to the midwoofer (main speaker driver) and mounts separately in a location such as a door post. Component systems typically come with an external crossover so you can easily adjust the high and low frequencies sent to both the midwoofer and the tweeter. Center channel speakers are great for those looking to have surround sound in their vehicle.
2-way
Tweeter Design
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Dome
Tweeter Composition
Materials such as polypropylene, silk, cloth, and paper are the most common, where as many more recent tweeters are now manufactured with composites such as Aluminum, Titanium, Mylar, and other materials.

PEI is an acronym for "Polyetherimide" which is an amorphous, amber transparent, high-performance thermoplastic.

PEI (Polyetherimide)
Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Injection Molded Polypropylene (IMPP)
Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
250 watts
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
40 watts
Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
91 dB
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
30 - 30000 Hz
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
4 ohms
Shallow Mount Installation
This means that the subwoofer/speaker is designed to be installed in areas that do not have a lot of space. Shallow mount subwoofers are typically found under a seat or behind the seat in some trucks.

Shallow mount speakers will typically have a mounting depth of 2" or less, while shallow mount subwoofers will typically have a mounting depth of 3" or less.

Yes
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
2-5/16"
Bottom-Mount Depth
The depth when installed from the bottom of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the top of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
2-3/4"
Cutout Dimensions
Refers to the dimensions of the hole, measured in inches or millimeters, required to contain the speaker.
5-1/4" x 7-1/2"
Speaker Grilles
A grating or screen of metal or plastic bars or wires, mounted in front of a speaker as protection. If yes, the speakers will include matching speaker grilles. If no, there are no grilles included.
No

Really Great Speakers

June 19, 2014

I ordered a pair of these speakers for my 1997 Ford F150 Extended/Supercab. I put them in the front doors a little over a month ago, replacing the 17 year old worn out and LITERALLY FRIED speakers. The first few times I cranked it up with a good song on, I was just so tickled because it sounded so great!!! It has some pretty good bass and a really great overall sound, even when you have it turned up. Trust me, if you are like me, you aren't going to accept anything less than crystal clear sound. For $35 you aren't going to find a better pair of speakers. But if you are willing to spend an extra $10, I might actually recommend the Pioneer TS-A6885R. They look cooler and have a little more bass. I put a pair of these in the back of my truck when I realized I forgot about the back two speakers... Lol.

Can't fill big shoes

June 10, 2014

I am using these as a temp speaker in front dampened door until my new install can get underway and I can get my high end comp's in place. This is a low dollar speaker, and if you aren't expecting solid midbass, and crisp, separated mids and highs then you won't be disappointed. With that being said, I can't complain, they are better than listening to an Alpine R series 6x8 with mechanical issues and a dead tweeter. An average low budget speaker that has a decent sound from a factory HU. No doubt it will sound better with aftermarket HU, and a little warmer yet with an amp, but if you are going that far with your install then upgrade to higher end comp's/coaxials.

Pioneer TS-G6844R Speakers

June 9, 2014

This is the second set of Pioneer speakers I have purchased. I was so impressed with the first set there was no question when I needed more speakers. They sound fantastic (far better than original equip) and fit my Ford F150 perfectly! I absolutely recommend these speakers.

Decent Speakers For The Price

February 1, 2014

I bought these speakers to replace blown front left door speaker in a 2001 Lincoln LS. The speakers were easy to install and came with everything needed to install. Has a diagram on the box lid for additional install instructions. The speakers with fade full front sound ok but with volume they distort and you can tell that they cannot evenly produce the sound. I have a stock HU right now maybe that will change when I get a new HU and see how the speakers produce. The rear door speakers can handle the volume from the stock HU no problem and they are stock. But overall with the even fade front to back they sound good and complement the stock speakers well. I would not replace all the speakers in my car with these, but they serve the purpose of replacing a blown speaker. At low levels the speakers sound good and at that level I would say yes they sound good. Overall Im satisfied with the speakers they are good enough for the price, and they are Pioneer. If you are looking for something to replace yes, if you are looking for more sound and bass its a no. These are the speakers that I'am replacing in the rear doors and rear deck.- Rockford Fosgate P1683 (maybe in the front doors as well pending review)

Decent replacements

November 27, 2013

I like these speakers as they are quite a bit more sharp for the highs than my stock Ford Ranger speakers, but unfortunately with just the power from my aftermarket head unit (give or take 10 watts a piece) they lack the lows that are given out by my stock ones, fortunately this is not much of a problem for me as I have a set of subwoofers to handle the lows :). So I'd say if your speakers are starting to lack I recommend these, however I don't recommend these as a replacement for new stock speakers.

out with the old, in with the new

May 13, 2013

I purchased the TS-G6844R speakers to replace some old worn out Pioneer speakers that I have had in my Dakota for about 9 years. They are everything that I knew they would be for Pioneers! They sound great! They are being powered by a 300 watt amp and rock my truck. Perfect price for my budget. I would highly recommend these speakers.

I would recommend these speakers, they sound good and are easy to install. The only thing I would like changed is the wire size on the jumpers to splice to the factory wiring. Factory wire gauge looks to be 16gauga and the jumpers in the kit seem to be a lot smaller maybe 22 or 24 gauge.
