Great Radio when Using Android and the ARliberator App
The radio sounds great and looks almost factory in my car and I really like that. I am running it on an android galaxy S3. After buying the radio, part way through the install, I found out that the pioneer android interface kit does not work with the S3. This is because the S3 changed the pin configuration to the MHL connector (charger) on the phone. My solution was buy the Samsung HDMI to MHL converter otherwise known as a smartphone to hdtv connector (the Samsung galaxy S3 specific one) and use that in conjunction with a standard hdmi cable. After figuring all that out which I think is Samsung's fault not Pioneer's, I found the ARliberator app for the Android. This app basically turns your Appradio into an extension of your phone. Once the phone is synced to the radio you are able to use every feature of your phone on the touchscreen of the Appradio. What you would normally see on the screen of your phone is what you see on the Appradio.
Now for the bad... There is only 2 preamp outputs, the rear is switchable from sub woofer to rear speaker. This mean if you were to run a 4-channel to power your speakers you would have to choose between having rear speakers or a subwoofer. There is no CD or DVD drive, doesn't bother me but still sucks... No remote

This radio is OK.
Good things: touch screen, looks good, easy to use (for the most part), and it does what all other radios do, play music from whatever you plug into it.
Not so good things: the Appradio IOS app sucks, I can't figure out how to play videos through my iPhone onto the screen, no DVD or CD player so you're limited to your iPod or phone (or AM/FM), no Sirius/XM.
I previously owned an AVH-P4400BH and I like it better than my SPH-DA100. You can change the song without having to be in the "iPod" app, can turn the screen off without having to scroll across (which is kinda slow on the Appradio 2) and if course it plays DVD's.
The SPH-DA100 is a good radio, I just don't think it's one of the best

This unit does everything my wife was looking for; great sounding radio with is very easy to use and tune/save stations. Nice old-school display, hold down the button and the station is saved. Plays music easily from her iPhone 4s as well as Pandora. The bluetooth phone feature works awesome and sounds great too. I installed this into her Ford F-150 truck and it looks incredible, fits like a glove. Only feature we wish it had is bluetooth audio streaming, but it's really no big deal to plug it in.
