The success of any car audio amplifier depends on system quality and construction, ease of installation and configuration, and sound enhancing features. MB Quart engineers built the all new Onyx series amplifiers from the ground up to be an affordable amplifier with the audiophile and performance enthusiast in mind. This series is composed of value-packed class A/B amplifiers that boast affordability without sacrifice to power or quality. All Onyx Amplifiers come clothed in a beautiful new age piano black finish which accents interiors and brings a whole new level of sophistication to swallow. To match, the line of Onyx Speakers shows off the same piano black finish applied to their polypropylene cone woofers. It’s a perfect match every time.
Speaking of features, Onyx amplifiers bring the full tuning spectrum to your fingertips with variable high-pass, low-pass and subsonic filters built-in. To increase endurance, MB Quart designed Onyx amplifiers with military grade printed circuit boards and built-in system diagnostics that keep these amps running strong. High speed MOSFET output devices are used in the power supply to give you the best watts-per-dollar ratio. It’s not hard to see how success has been written all over these amplifiers, though with a piano finish that looks that good, we know you will be staring.

I'm using these as front speakers in my RX-8 with an MB Quart 4-channel amp. They handle the power very well and provide a excellent sound quality.

To the other reviewer, this amp is 200 watts at 4 ohm and 400 watts at 2 ohms. Please get your facts correct before you write a review.

Bought this in the first place for a pair of 6x9 speakers in my old car, but now powering an 8" at 200w rms in my new car. It hits good and I'll probably be buying another of the same sub and i'm confident the amp will have no problem.

I recently purchased this amp as a gift for my fiancee and I would have to say that its a great starter amp for the money. I have a polk audio 1540mm 15" subwoofer hooked up to this amp bridged at 4-ohms and it hits hard and accurate so I believe the rated 400-watts rms bridged.
Pros:
> Nice piano black gloss finish
> cea rated
> silver plated terminals (silver is a better conductor than gold or platnuim.
>small so its easy to mount in discreet areas like under a seat etc...
>low THD at Rated RMS Power 0.05%
> 4-Way System Protection circuitry (DC, thermal, overload, and speaker short protection)
Cons:
> no speaker level inputs
>setting gain lpf and hpf is a little tricky sense its not a digital read just an analog knob.
All in all, A great amp for only
$70-90 and is CEA rated. Just make sure to set your gain properly with a multimeter or an o-scope.
If you have any questions I will gladly answer them :)

I purchased 3 of these amplifiers and am quite pleased with the output they provide. the sound is strong, clean and warm. I am just a guy that likes good music, not anyone that is looking to beat down the neighbor's house with a trunk full of subs. You can't go wrong with these amps and the price is amazing for what you get.

I have this amp running a set of MB Quart PVL268 components in my Ford Escape. The amp has plenty of power and the sound quality is great for a amp of this price. The quality is top notch as well. My only complaint is the glossy finish. Its a fingerprint magnet. I highly recommend this amp to anyone looking to power a set of good components or some subs. It does put out 400 watts rms x 1 @ 4ohms, & maybe a little more. I hooked it up to a Alpine Type R that was 600 watts rms & it pushed it every bit as good as my friends Hifonics 600 watt monoblock...

Got this hooked up to my Sony 12" Xplod sub bridged at 400 watts and it's awesome! It replaced am MTX TC4004 which is only 200 watts bridged. Major difference. I was able to raise the output level on my Maxxsonics MX3 all the way up and it has increased my db output. I don't pay attention to the voltage settings printed on equipment. They're pretty much for reference only so I always go by my ears when setting my levels. There's no distortion and it has increased my overall sound. I have an ONYX 4.80 on the way to use on my highs as well. My one complaint would be the plastic mounting feet but it's a good thing they use plastic because I mounted the amp to the back of my seat which is metal. The beautiful piano black paint gives it a sweet look. I've always been a fan of Maxxsonics equipment and have maintained the MB QUART reputation. Definitely recommend this amp!

But is says 400 watts rms "bridged"... For the 1st review are you using it bridged and does it really perform as 400 watt rms bridged amp for a sub?
