Sound Signature

Sound Staging & Imaging
Sound Staging and Imaging refers to the ability of a pair of headphones to create the placement of instruments and vocalists in a recording. A small sound stage is very difficult to determine where the instruments are in relation to the vocalists, everything sounds like it's coming from the same place. An extra large sound stage separates the instruments and vocalists so that you can clearly tell where each is on the sound stage.
Clarity/Detail
Refers to how clear the headphones audio reproduction is.
Tone/Timbre
Refers to the quality of a music note that distinguishes different types of sound production (voices, musical instruments, etc.).
Bass
Refers to the bass performance of the headphones. Rated from Light bass to extreme bass.
Bass Detail
How accurately a headphone can reproduce bass notes; a culmination of attack, speed, decay and clarity. Attack is how precisely it can begin a bass note without delay. Speed is the ability to continue to attack an array of bass notes without lagging. Decay is the length of time after a bass note ends that the sound is still heard. Clarity is how easily all bass frequencies are heard. It gives perception of loose, tight, or muddy bass.

Headphone Design

Headphone Type

This is the design of the earpieces on the headphones. Some headphones go inside the ear, while others rest on the outside of the ear. This helps you know exactly what type of headphones you will be receiving.

In-Ear: The ear buds go into the ear. Most often, the right and left ear buds are two separate pieces.

Enclosed-Ear: Usually are found on the larger headphones. They rest on top of the ear and have padding for comfort, as well as enclosing the ear to the speaker. This type of headphone helps to filter out surrounding noise.

On-Ear: This type of headphone involves the speaker sitting gently on the ear without going in the ear or sealing it off.

In-Ear
Headband Type

Headphone type refers to the construction of the headphones.

Around the Ear means that the headphones wrap around the ear to provide a secure fit. This is most often seen in active and sports headphones.

Around the Neck means that the headphones wrap around the neck. This is also seen in active and sports headphones.

Earbuds means that the right and left sides of the headphones are separated and will fit securely into the ear. These are small, compact, and user friendly.

Over the Head headphones mean that the right and left speakers are connected with a support that goes over the head and rests on top. This is the typical headphone type.

Earbuds
Specifically For

Home/Office
Sports
Traveler/Airplane
Acoustic Principle

The basic design of the headphones. There are 3 different types:

Open: Have ports that allow air through the back of the diaphragms, enabling the headphones to sound like the music is coming from an outside source.

Closed: Completely sealed and have no air passing through the diaphragms. Sounds like you are in a closed off room.

Semi-open: Have slots or ports in the back of the cup and are partially open. This allows for a mixed sound between an open and closed headphone.

General Features

Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".

Frequency Response

November 7, 2013

Good sounding ear buds a little better than the skull candy ink series. It's what you'd expect from a kicker product.

Wicked Buds

July 22, 2013

I ride a loud sportsbike so I bought a pair for the sheer lightweightedness and noise isolation. With my helmet speakers and using GPS it can get a lil noisy under the helmet, but these earphones are incredible. I show other riders the braided Kevlar and the impression alone is amazing. I've had beats and all kinds of earbuds, you simply will not find better for what little or more money you have. I just wanted a pair like F1 racers use and these are incredible. The alloy will scratch but what do u expect when you're doing 1000 or so miles a weekend.

Change in Opinion

April 10, 2013

I wrote a review about these not to long ago about these and was questioning the quality and price. I found out my headphone jack was messed up and had a local store fix the jack and when i got it back i was surprised in how much better they sounded. they have really good quality and amazing bass for in-ear-headphones. still kinda pricey but most Kicker items are. Would recommend these to anybody looking for some high quality ear buds.

Kinda Disappointed

January 29, 2013

This is the first product I've gotten from Kicker that i wasn't blown away by. Yeah they are nice but defiantly not worth $30, I didn't find them to be as good in terms of quality described in the last review, must be a difference in taste. Don't know if i would recommend these to a friend. Also a lot smaller than i thought they would be.

February 12, 2014

These headphones are a great set of speakers for the money. I have heard a lot of opinions from friends about Kicker brand electronics, and I wanted to try for myself, and these buds are an affordable way to get kickin bass for not a lot of money.

Fantastic

December 30, 2012

I ordered these headphones for my mom and after she used them for a day I borrowed them so I could write a review on them because there was only one review and I took a chance on them...

anyway they are absolutely fantastic. they are almost as nice as my over ear Kicker HP541 they have a little less bass than the over ears while still delivering the epic bass and highs and crisp mids and with that I almost doent want to give them back.. but I must and I'll probably order another set just for when I'm at work

I would definately recomend this product to you all.
