The NVX VSW124 is the perfect subwoofer solution. The series utilizes excellent engineering found in the higher end NVX subwoofers. It features a hybrid carbon and fiberglass woven cone with a pressed paper backing that is strong and lightweight for accurate response and extreme SPL. All of these elements combined produce tight, deep and accurate bass that is sought after by bass-heads and audiophiles. Additional Information:

*CEA-2031 Compliant: All CEA-2031 compliant loudspeakers adopt the same testing and measurement methods so comparing them side by side is easy. Loudspeakers include car speakers and subwoofers. The Consumer Electronics Association created new testing and measurement methods for mobile loudspeaker systems that define test procedures for rating the performance and physical size of speakers. This is important because you can now compare different speakers on the same playing field. Any manufacturers who adopt the CEA-2031 logo product mark can be compared evenly to other speaker manufacturers with the same mark.

Subwoofer Specifications

Subwoofer Series
Each subwoofer manufactured is part of a series. This is the name of the subwoofer's series.
VS-Series (NVX)
Subwoofer Size
Refers to the diameter of the subwoofer, measured in inches.
12"
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
600 watts
Voice Coil(s)
Dual voice coil subs have more wiring flexibility than single voice coils subs; however, single voice coil subwoofers provide easier hookup options for wiring multiple subwoofers in parallel or series. You may also run a dual voice coil (DVC) sub in parallel, series, or combination. A quad voice coil has four voice coils and is equal to two dual voice coil subwoofers as far as wiring goes.
Dual
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
4 ohms
Voice Coil Diameter
Diameter of voice coil, usually measured in inches.
2.5"
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
30 - 500 Hz
Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
86.3 dB
Xmax (millimeters)
Typically measured in millimeters, the Xmax value is the measure of a speaker cone's maximum excursion in one direction while maintaining a linear behavior.
12 mm
Subwoofer Design
This is the design of the subwoofer or the opening of the subwoofer enclosure. Each design has it's own benefits, whether it is a square, circle, or oval.

Round/Circle: This is the typical and common subwoofer design. They have a round cone and are a circle in design.

Square: These woofers are able to achieve a greater cone area in a smaller space. Because of the greater surface area, some square subwoofers will be louder than a round subwoofer of the same size.

Round / Circle
Main Cone Color
This is the color of the speaker's or subwoofer's cone.
Black
Dark Gray
Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Non-Pressed Paper With Woven Carbon Fiber Top
Woofer Surround
A speakers surround is part of the suspension system. The surround protects the cone and prevents it from being displaced as it flexes out from the basket. It is usually made of a durable material like treated foam or rubber in order to withstand the strenuous job of producing bass frequencies.
High Roll Foam
Magnet Structure
Defines the overall structure of the subwoofers magnet.
Double Stacked
Subwoofer Grille
Most subwoofers are able to accommodate a universal grille; however, some subs include a grille and others have a specific, optional grille available for purchase separately. If "yes", then the subwoofer includes a grille. If "optional (sold separately)" the matching grille will need to be purchased in addition to the sub.
No
Re-Cone Kit Available
Some higher end subwoofers have replaceable cone assemblies. In case of a blown woofer, a recone kit allows for a simple replacement, as opposed to purchasing an entire new subwoofer.
No

Recommended Enclosure Specifications

Recommended Enclosure Type
This is the recommended type of enclosure that the subwoofer should be installed into. Some subwoofers are specially designed for particular enclosures.

Sealed: These enclosures completely enclose the air inside the box. These boxes produce a tight bass.

Ported/Vented: These enclosures have a slot of air to escape from the box. The result is a sound that has more "boom".

Bandpass: These are a combination of both sealed and ported enclosures. They can be very efficient, but require tuning for the best response.

Ported / Vented
Sealed
Optimum Sealed Box Volume
This value indicates the ideal sealed box volume that the manufacturer recommends for the subwoofer. The volume is typically displayed in cubic feet.
1.5 cubic feet
Optimum Ported Box Volume
This value indicates the ideal ported box volume that the manufacturer recommends for the subwoofer. The volume is typically displayed in cubic feet.
1.75 cubic feet
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
5-15/16"
Cutout Diameter
The actual diameter of the hole you will need to cut out if you are creating a new mounting location for this speaker, or if you are mounting a subwoofer in a box.
9-27/32"
Shallow Mount Installation
This means that the subwoofer/speaker is designed to be installed in areas that do not have a lot of space. Shallow mount subwoofers are typically found under a seat or behind the seat in some trucks.

Shallow mount speakers will typically have a mounting depth of 2" or less, while shallow mount subwoofers will typically have a mounting depth of 3" or less.

No

Electromechanical Parameters

Free-Air Resonance (Fs)
The free-air resonance frequency of the subwoofer, measured in Hz. At this frequency the weight of the moving parts is perfectly balanced with the subwoofers suspension system.
33.6 Hz
Equivalent Compliance (Vas)
This is the amount of air that has the same stiffness as the subwoofers suspension. The greater the rating, the lower the stiffness and larger recommended enclosure. It is measured in Liters.
35.36 liters
Total Speaker Q Value (Qts)
This is the subwoofers relative damping (Q) at the resonance frequency (Fs), including all dimensionless losses. Essentially, a high Qts value (closer to 1.0) means the subwoofer is great for sealed enclosures and a low Qts value (closer to 0) means the woofer is great in vented enclosures. A Qts of around 0.45 means the woofer will work decently in either enclosure type.
0.533
Electrical Q Value (Qes)
The subwoofers relative damping (Q) at the resonance frequency (Fs), including electrical losses. Also called the mechanical damping of the subwoofer. The unitless measurement usually varies from 0.5 – 10.

pretty good sub

January 5, 2015

This is a great buy. Put it with the Belva 2000.1. Running it at 2ohms in a 1999 es300 Lexus. Just the right bass for that type of car. I would definitely recommend this sub. I was thinking about putting 3 of these in my Tahoe.

More performance then I ever expected

July 9, 2014

Very underrated subs says 400-600 watts RMS but they handle 800/ 850 RMS all day long have them on a brutus x14 1900.1 and they love it. There louder than i ever expected. Talk about DEEP CLEAN BASS for the money these subs will satisfy your bass cravings. You cant go wrong if your looking for a sub that performs like subs that cost double to 3 times the price.

These things HIT!

September 5, 2014

I bought two of these to replace an old Alpine that had blown and let me tell you, these are the hardest hitting subs Ive ever heard for the price. Got them wired up to a Hifonics brx1000 @ 1ohm and you can hear me coming from the next block. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who wants loud, clean, bass.

great subwoofer

August 20, 2013

i had mine wired 2ohm on a pioneer premier stage 4 1200 Watt RMS mono amp and i loved it !!! ive also have the nsw and vcw and the x series 12". they all are awesome for the price if your looking for the loudest get the vcw. if you want the best sounding get the x series. these are a mid level and are a great budget subwoofer for everyday use. the nsw is one of the best subs in its price range and are impressive for an "entry level" sub.

You will not find a better sub for the price!

July 29, 2014

I had a JL 10w3 and was never really satisfied with the output, so I decided to upgrade to a 12. I looked around and didn't want to spend a ton of money, so after reading all the good reviews on these, I decided to take the chance. WOW am I glad I did! I have 1 of these running on 800 watts at 2 ohm load and it slams! It sounds better than a lot of dual 12 setups that I've heard. I built a ported box tuned at 32 HZ and it loves it! The overall size is 22Wx15Tx15D and a 26" long L port 1.5"wide. I almost went with the VCW, but I think it would have been too much for what I need. I'm just used to spending 200 or more on a sub. Not anymore!

Wrong box but still awesome!

September 19, 2013

When i bought this sub it had a bundle deal that said it came with a ported subwoofer box, but the box it came with was in fact sealed. this sub hits hard, and hits all the notes i want it to at a volume that exceeds what my previous sub could do. I have this hooked up to a 1200.1 Hifonics amp and my old sub was an alpine type R.

Awesome subs from NVX and at a great value

October 1, 2014

I used to be skeptical about this particular type of brand, cause i've never heard of them or had any friends who own this brand of sub; but after reading these reviews online. I decided to take a bet and let me tell u these subs POUND, everything is there SPL as well as sound quality these things can get crazy loud! i have a pair of them hooked up to a hifonics brutus 1200.1 in a sealed probox with about 1.5 cubic ft each. Furthermore these subs put my kicker cvr's 12 to shame and finally, yes i would recommend these subs as "mid-level" sub for value.

This is a very good subwoofer. Though it requires a somewhat larger enclosure it is worth it. Im using it in an sq install with 1.35cuft 1.7lb of dacron and 600 watts (metered) from a jad1200 at two ohms. That being said it complements my x series nvx components powered by an jad800.4 bi amped through the xnet.(awsome) is what comes to mind when i turn the music on. This isnt the best setup you can buy but when all the music comes together as it does it will put a smile on your face. The bass is right there( time aligned) with the mids and it is very punchy and tight. Buy this sub tf you are not trying to blur your vision(vcw, trust me,iv got one) but want quick responce and sq.

extremely happy with this subwoofer.

March 13, 2015

To start I've owned the T2 Rockford fosgate, JL Audio W6v2, diamond audio D6, alpine typeR new model. Normally I spend good money on my subwoofer but after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. I like good sound quality and this NVX VSW124 doesn't disappoint, it hits every note accurately. Though the sound is not as tight as a w6, this NVX puts out serious SPL I'm running it at 400w RMS till I break it in. The amount of performance you get for the value you will not find another subwoofer near this price point.

Great Sub

May 28, 2014

Great subwoofer, I actually Order it just to fill the lows while i receive my SA-8s. To my surprise this sub packs more of a punch than i thought. I was so impress it is still install in my SUV. It rattles the whole car, when my radio is on mirrors are worthless since they shake so much. I actually had to install sound deadener inisde the trunk hatch and license plate. BTW, whoever invented the Sound Dampening material is a life saver. Car is quiet as can be. Any ways, great sub, if i would had known, NVX Sub were so good, i would had bought the VCW sub which i read pounds harder. BTW, loved the packaging.

Why did you choose this?
Sonic Electronix Store
I live in the Bahamas with no means of demoing new items before purchase, however after watching the subwoofer olympics videos on youtube and then speaking to several very helpful representatives via telephone along with comparing the specs to subwoofers i have owned in the past i decided to take the chance and give them a shot. Sonic has only disappointed me once with a non functioning woofer but your quality and customer care is unmatched.

Is a brutus 1400 to much for two of these and if so what size brutus and box would go with two of these subs?
Nickp on Aug 21, 2014
Best Answer: Being that that amp is cea 2006 compliant, I wouldn't run a pair of those subs at 1 ohm, the reason I'm saying that is because I ran my VSW on my jad1200 at 2 ohms which is 800 true watts, and most cea compliant amps do more than rated. I pulled my sub out of the box about five minutes after playing it for 10 mins straight and the motor was hot, so I would feel comfortable if you ran that amp at 2 ohms instead of 1, but that's just me.

Need some opinions. I currently have a Fosgate p2d4 12 running at 2 ohms powered by a JL Audio JX500.1 in a Fox acoustics ported box with 1.85 cubic feet. I am wanting to upgrade to the sub or the P3 or maybe the JL W3. The amp is running 500 watts RMS would it be ok pushing this sub? Would it be worth the money to upgrade or should I just stick with what I have? I have a 2013 Ram 1500 crew cab with the sub under the passenger side rear seat. Thanks for your help.

Best Answer: If you are referring to the 12"s in both cases then it matches your amps rms output and this should not be a problem at all. If your under powering be careful not to square your signal, overpowering will clip but you are not doing either so just use normal caution. Although, having used a multitude of subwoofers, I don't think you are upgrading by enough to really produce a noticeable difference. If I had to make a suggestion, if you still plan on upgrading, I would go bigger with both amp and sub. I would say get two but your vehicle type would make it difficult. And props for getting 1.85 ported under your seat lol.

how would this sub compare sq wise to an RE sex or JL W3 v3?

Best Answer: I have never personally heard either of those subs, but this model gets very loud without much distortion. Even when I bring it up to near-clipping (which is difficult even on a 650w amp), this sub keeps excellent sound.

It has a pretty great frequency response too. It can hit fairly high notes, and definitely can get pretty low.

For almost half the price of either of those, I'd recommend this. I love how it looks, sounds, and slams.

Best Answer: Most definitely! I have the box that the subs came with as a bundle and to be honest, the box that it came with limits their potential. A bigger box is in fact what they need. Either way you will enjoy them but it's like buying a house with these subs, a little bigger, a little better.
