Very happy.

July 13, 2014

Product works just as advertised and suits my purposes perfectly. My second battery drives a heavy duty wench, fog lights, and stereo system and the NVX BIR500 has been keeping it well charged. It was easy and quick to install. The only thing I wish it came with would be rubber caps for the posts. I accidentally tapped them more than once, causing sparks (that's why the 3 under 'look/design'), Before I wrapped them in electrical tape. Other than that I've very happy with it.

dose it help out when having a 3000 watt amp hook't up dose it act like a small alternator I don't know much of this product so if you know help full hint's please let me know???

Best Answer: This is pretty much a big Relay switch. Mainly to be used in between 2 or more batteries. Install your power wire and fuse it as close to your main battery, run the power wire to this Amp Relay, install another power wire to this relay, fuse it next to your second battery and hook to second battery. Follow the instructions on wiring.......with this being said, technically you really do not need an isolator unless you plan on running your audio equipment or anything else after market with the engine off.....with the engine on, this relay allows a charge from your alternator to both batteries, whereas when you turn your engine off, this isolator "disconnects" the second battery, thus allowing you to use your second batter as long as it can go, without draining your main battery, allowing to still start your car. If you're going to SPL application, don't bother with this as you'll have more resistance, if you're going for more subtle, SQ or car show application, it won't hurt anything and also allows more security, just make sure you ground everything properly. But if you are running a 3000w amp, (assuming that's all) technically don't worry about this isolator unless you play music with engine off, to make sure this particular "500 amp" isolator is enough, basically figure out how many amps you'll be needing from your second battery as well as what you alternator can handle. I bought this, but I ended up never installing it or using it at all, mainly b/c I was planning on an SPL application, but now I'm re-doing my entire set up, so I'll probably use it....

I hope at least some of this information helps....Keep in mind, when installing anything electrical, especially batteries, amps, and alternators, you should ALWAYS be safer by adding extra security, even if someone says it's overkill, I would rather replace a bunch of fuses rather than my entire vehicle and set up. Do your research on this, look at review and youtube reviews, they do help

i am runing 20000 watts off my amps, will this help or will i need a bigger one?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2014
Best Answer: The manufacturer's specs state that this device is rated to handle 500 Amps constant and 700 Amps Surge (both at 12V). This means it can handle 6000 watts constant and a 8400 watt surge (volts x amps = watts). If you are seriously running 20,000 watts rms, you may wish to consider other options, because at 12v you would be pulling 1,667 amps, and at 14.4v you would be pulling 1389 amps. I assume that instead of power cables you are using solid buss bars?
