Long lasting, everyday use, excellent
Have had my Continental 40 pint dehumidifier for almost four years now. We've been using it in a 34 foot fifth-wheel while we have been full-time RVers and volunteers. Our Continental has been used in some of the wettest regions where RVs can suffer serious mold issues - Oregon Willamette Valley, Cascades, and coastal regions which, of course, means rain, rain, rain. That means we run this unit every single day, even in summer when we have humidity through June and much of July. We dump the 40 pint reservoir daily. For this amount of time, pulling this amount of water out of the air (and our walls and furniture) this unit is a real trooper. Our RV friends who are also full-timers have replaced similar units by other brands multiple times in the same time period. We keep the vent cleaned, which is very minimal maintenance. It is easy to move, and is not so big you can't find a place for it. It keeps our RV interior from suffering mold damage from water condensation. It is a must have for any RVers. I am now looking for one for my parents' RV. Their rig is the same age as ours (just over 5 years old), they also live in the Cascades where it stays wet most of the year, but their RV without a dehumidifier is already beginning to smell of interior mold just from condensation and humidity.
The one negative about this unit and the reason why it did not get 5 stars across the board is that it has gotten a bit noisier over the years due to it developing a slight wobble in the fan. This could be due to travel, although it has never been misused or dropped. To me, for the amount of use it has had, this is not a major issue. I think it has outlived its expectancy, but I will likely replace it within the next year. Considering the price I paid about for it on sale four years ago, and it is the number one reason for keeping my RV's interior in great shape, at 30 bucks a year, you can't afford not to get one of these.
