This unit comes with instructions that are complete and easy to follow. A 2008 Ford Explorer, removal and then installation of a Kenwood DVD/GPS took me less than 2 hours from start to finish. All my features continued and it was as simple as hooking colored wires to the same colored wires on the unit.

Has everything you could need.

September 28, 2013

If you have a xls or base model ford, this one is not required, you can get the cheaper one. But with that being said, this this is built solid, the wiring was actually thicker awg than my head unit!

Works Great

October 3, 2014

The harness works great. Be prepared to splice a number of wires to the harness that comes with your aftermarket radio.

what is the male plug for on the xsvi-5521?
Richard F on Apr 1, 2015
Best Answer: In the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles listed on back there are no 12 volt accessory wires in the factory radio harness making the installer run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio.
The XSVI-5521-NAV is designed to provide a 12 volt
10 amp switched accessory output along with the rest of the wires needed to install an aftermarket radio. The R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) function is retained by the XSVI-5521-NAV.

So the purpose of this harness is to provide an accessory power that allows you to maintain the factory feature of when you turn the car off the radio stays on till you open the door.

As to where that plug is actually supposed to go, I'm not positive, I ran an external accessory wire from my ignition swich, so in mine the radio turns off with the key.
