worked ok on buick application

November 16, 2014

Ordered with instructions to flash as per my vehicle. Arrived quick with a r/o confirming programming from sonic. Installed with compustar 7200. Programmed first shot. (Minus a tach signal programming issue with rs itself which we corrected quickly), unit worked great. 1 wire Obd data hookup saved us a lot of time.... NOTE-not all alarms/rs have blade ports make sure this will fit the unit you purchase

The OL-BLADE-AL-64 works awesome. I ordered it and provides all my auto's info and after wiring and connecting it I was able to remote start only if the key was in the ignition. Also the light would only blink red. Called Sonic and they sent another one out that was programmed and everything works as it should.

Hands down best bypass solution.

November 26, 2013

The blade unit connects directly to the RS/Alarm module. There are no D2D or W2W worries when interfacing with a control module. Simply slide the blade into the compatible RS/Alarm, flash the firmware on with an OL-Loader, and use the included wire harness to interface with the vehicle for TB/DL solutions. You pay a little extra, but it makes for a much cleaner install.

love it

February 2, 2015

the feature where you can take out your key and it stays running is cool. very simple to install. the blade took care of alot of the wires so only needed about half the wires hooked up. definitely recommend this.

Didn't work

September 17, 2013

There is no record or indication that this product comes pre-flashed with the car information you provide at checkout. But I'm just assuming it was. However it does not work. When you initiate the remote start on your remote the interior lights turn on like the key is in accessory and the siren blares for half a second and everything shuts off. That's all I can ever get it to do.

Not very good

February 3, 2016

I recently had this product professionally installed. I does work but you have to be very close to the vehicle...may as well start it with your key.

Also sometimes it starts..sometimes it doesn't ..very frustrating ...especially if you can't see your vehicle..does not work through any walls and even a window between you and the vehicle does not make it work. The features are nice such as it can be programmed to start by itself it its to cold or the battery is low or the rear defogger will come on if it goes below freezing but none of those are any good if the remote does not start your vehicle. I got in touch with Excalibur customer service and they said it was because they had to comply with FCC CRTC rules etc. My friend had a differnt remote start installed in his car and had no such problems at all. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as its not dependable.

Best Answer: Are you sure you do not have a chip in the key? The chips are not visible. They are inside the plastic handle of the key and send off a RF signal to the ignition switch when you insert the key. The easiest way to find out if you have a chip or not is to go to your local walmart, lowes or home depot to one of those key copy kiosks. Make a standard copy of your key. Now put your original key at least 10ft away from your truck and try to start the truck with the copy. If it starts, you don't have a chip. If it doesn't start, there's a chip in your original key. If you have a chip you will need the OL-Blade-Al. If you do not have a chip, you don't need the OL-Blade-Al. Some people prefer to get the BLADE module even if they do not have a chip though since it can cut down on a lot of wiring.

Do I need this if I bought the Excalibur 1950 for my 2006 scion Xb?
Skylar F on Mar 2, 2015
Best Answer: also a very good sure fire way to find out if your vehicle has Security Bulletin is to go to your local Walmart and get the cheapest key copy that you can if your vehicle does not start using that key copy you obviously do have security if all other measures fail to determine whether your vehicle has security or not

What is this for? Just more options? I have the alarm/remote start, just wondered if I could get more features with it on a 98 S-10.
Damien N on Jan 24, 2015
Best Answer: The blade is just for security by pass it is only required for vehicles with security built in from factory.a good way to tell weather you have it on not is to cycle the key to the on position and see if a red light flashes on the dash or the word security on the gauge cluster. One other shure fire way is to get a regular key copied @ walmart just a plain key with no chip and see if it will run and drive
