Quality Sound by Pioneer

The A-Series speakers are your solution to upgrading those worn out factory speakers. The cone is composed of a multilayer mica matrix material that is rigid enough to resist warping during playback, but soft enough to produce smooth and subtle mids. The soft dome tweeter uses Wave Guide technology in order to increase the sensitivity, thus providing great articulation in the high frequency spectrum. The passive crossover network will blend the mid-woofer and tweeter for a perfectly balanced sound all throughout the audible frequency range. These speakers are designed with a wide frequency response to ensure you are hearing every note of your favorite songs. The high temperature voice coil will reduce distortion by dissipating heat quickly, which will protect your investment for years to come. These speakers can be ran off either a head-unit or an amplifier, making them very versatile and applicable for most vehicles. Available in most common sizes, the A-Series speakers make for a great audio upgrade.

Speaker Specifications

Series
This is the manufacturer product line of speakers.
A-Series / TSA (Pioneer)
Priced Per
Car Speakers are typically sold in pairs so you will receive 2 speakers for each speaker purchase on speakers marked "Priced Per Pair". If a speaker is marked "Priced Per Each" then the speaker is sold individually and each purchase you make will result in 1 speaker. High-powered tweeters, midrange and full-range pro audio for car speakers are typically sold per each speaker.
Pair
Speaker Size
Refers to the size of the speaker measured in inches. Every vehicle has standard application sizes. Please use our vehicle fitment guide for your vehicle's specific speaker sizes if you do not know them.
6-1/2"
Design
The number of individual drivers in a car speaker. Speakers with 2 drivers are known as a 2-way, and 3 drivers are known as a 3-way. Component systems are often referred to as "separates" because the tweeter is not attached to the midwoofer (main speaker driver) and mounts separately in a location such as a door post. Component systems typically come with an external crossover so you can easily adjust the high and low frequencies sent to both the midwoofer and the tweeter. Center channel speakers are great for those looking to have surround sound in their vehicle.
3-way
Tweeter Design
Designs such as cone, dome, semi-dome, balanced dome, and whizzer are most popular. Cone tweeters are simple, efficient and typically are the most reasonably priced. Dome tweeters are used in most home speakers, and provide a smoother and more accurate sound. Semi-dome design is one with a dome placed inside a cone. A Balanced dome driver is a semi-dome with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the driver. A whizzer tweeter is a separate tweeter cone driven by the voice coil of the woofer.
Dome
Tweeter Size
Refers to the size of the tweeter. Typically, smaller tweeters produces less output with higher frequency response.
3/4"
Woofer Composition
Lightweight woofer cone materials are essential for efficient operation. Poly cones produce exceptional sound and are sturdy against various changes in temperature. Paper cones are very efficient, and when treated for moisture resistance, will perform at a high level. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
Mica Reinforced Cellular Glass-Fiber
Woofer Surround
A speakers surround is part of the suspension system. The surround protects the cone and prevents it from being displaced as it flexes out from the basket. It is usually made of a durable material like treated foam or rubber in order to withstand the strenuous job of producing bass frequencies.
Elastic Polymer
Peak Power Handling
Peak power handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle during a brief musical burst. The RMS power range figure is a much more reliable rating for determining the speaker's power requirements. The Peak power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
150 watts
RMS Power Handling
The RMS power is the amount of power the speaker requires to operate safely and properly. RMS Power Handling refers to the amount of power a speaker can handle on a continuous basis. We recommend powering your speakers or subwoofer with 80%-120% of its recommended RMS rating. The RMS power handling specification is typically rated per speaker unless otherwise noted.
50 watts
Sensitivity
An efficiency or sensitivity rating tells you how effectively a speaker converts power into sound. The higher the number, the more efficient the speaker and the louder it will play with the same input power. An efficient speaker helps you maximize your available power. Most sensitivity ratings measure the speaker's output with 1 watt of input, 1 meter from the speaker. Some speakers' sensitivity is measured with 2.83 volts of input, instead of 1 watt.

Efficiency (1w/1m) is not an accurate indicator of a subwoofer's output capability and should not be used as a comparison to other speakers or subwoofers to determine which one is "louder".
90 dB
Frequency Response
The range of frequencies the speaker will reproduce (lowest frequency to the highest). Bigger is better, meaning the wider the range, the better. The optimal range is 20 - 20,000 Hz (which is the range of human hearing).
35 - 31000 Hz
Impedance (Per Voice Coil)
The load value (in ohms) that the speakers present to the amplifier per voice coil - the amount of resistance to the current flow. This is a key specification as subs wired in parallel or low impedances can create problems with your amplifier and potentially void all warranties. We encourage you to ask our support department prior to purchase if you do not understand which impedance level will suit your application best.
4 ohms
Shallow Mount Installation
This means that the subwoofer/speaker is designed to be installed in areas that do not have a lot of space. Shallow mount subwoofers are typically found under a seat or behind the seat in some trucks.

Shallow mount speakers will typically have a mounting depth of 2" or less, while shallow mount subwoofers will typically have a mounting depth of 3" or less.

Yes
Top-Mount Depth
The depth when installed on top of the mounting surface. Measured from the bottom of the speaker's magnet to the bottom of the mounting holes on the rim of the speaker.
1-3/4"
Cutout Dimensions
Refers to the dimensions of the hole, measured in inches or millimeters, required to contain the speaker.
5" x 5"
Speaker Grilles
A grating or screen of metal or plastic bars or wires, mounted in front of a speaker as protection. If yes, the speakers will include matching speaker grilles. If no, there are no grilles included.

Love these speakers!!

September 1, 2014

These speakers work great!!! They're soo clear and the great bass. Pioneer really knows how to make them and for the price offered by Sonic I just couldn't say no. Great quality to!! You'll have to be blaring them 24/7 to blow these. I listen to them at a moderately loud level and I'm a everyday user meaning my mirrors will be raddling all day and still no problem. I mean if you want deep deep bass that'll nock your rear view mirror off, you'll need subwoofers. But they still get the job done.

Good quality highs from stock radio! Huge upgrade from stock. 2006 Dodge RAM

August 19, 2014

Great speaker. I was replacing my stock speakers and installing a subwoofer to the truck so I didn't need low end bass from these. Using stock head unit, these things can get impressively loud without distortion and have crystal clear highs for a budget non-component speaker. It fit in my 2006 Dodge RAM rear doors by drilling 2 new mounting holes and using the included fasteners.

Great for the price

January 12, 2014

These speakers are hard to beat for the price! Not to mention they sound very good and have great clarity. I upgraded my 1996 Honda Accord with these speakers and I am very pleased. They sound 10x better than my stock speakers (but again its a 96' Honda) and they were supplied with all the correct mounting hardware needed! Pioneer loyal and happy!

Excellent clarity

November 25, 2013

These speakers are very clear even at loud volumes. I have them in a sound bar for a Jeep Wrangler with a soft top and you can hear them easily over the flapping and wind noise of the top. There is almost no Bass response in the sound bar with these speakers, but that might be due to the small metal enclosure that they are in. I have have pioneer speakers in the door on other vehicles and they sounded much better than these with the over all frequency response. With these I have to turn down the bass to 0 in order for me not to hear any vibration or sound distortion from the sound bar. The music, voice and high pitch reproduction is excellent.

You can do much better

November 2, 2013

I bought these to replace the stock rear speakers in my 89 integra, amd I must say I'm not impressed Hardly any bass and they distort at anything over a normal listening level, even on a amp they sound crappy and distorted. I bought a $24 set of kenwoods and they sound 3X as good as these. I ended up adding a low pass filter amd turning the fade waay up towards the front to compensate for how crappy they sound beyond normal listening loudness

September 9, 2013

These speakers are nice for the value. Though the old speakers from my '07 G6 front doors had a molded factory box which you couldn't take apart, the Pioneer's fit the opening with little effort.

Huge BANG for the bucks

August 15, 2013

Since highschool when I first got into car stereos I've always relied on Pioneer. I've tried other stuff but for the cost, durability, sound, etc. Pioneer is my choice. I bought these to put in the front of my Acura TL and moved the current front 2-way Pioneers I put in a while back to the rear doors. After installing I noticed the difference in products. These 3-ways can hit higher notes much cleaner. They also have quite a bit more bass than the previous speakers which I liked because i was relying solely on my subwoofer (also a Pioneer, 10" champion series - BUY IT). For the cost and sound - they're worth it and I'd pick them over some Focal and Polk speakers I've heard.

The Sound of These Speakers Made Me Sick to My Stomach

March 7, 2013

This is the first review I've ever written on anything if that tells you how upset I am with the sound quality of these speakers. Bought these to replace my stock speakers in a 2012 GMC Sierra. I put only one in to compare with the factory speaker and the factory speaker sounds 100% better! How can this be! I know these aren't very expensive but other places are selling them for $80 a pair (that's why I bought from sonic). I've bought similar priced speakers for past vehicles and they sounded great! The highs and mids were barely better than stock and the bass, don't get me started. Pretty much nothing there. Try to turn up the bass and you just a ton of distortion. Rated at 30 Hz, ha, yeah right. More like 50 Hz. Please, for the love of God, if you want your stereo to sound half way decent don't buy these speakers.

Pioneer has always been reputable. Great sound quality and loud clear highs on stock radio. Impressed.

Need 6.5" speakers for kick panels and numerous reviews rated these very high, yet price is under $50. Sonic had good info and cheap(est), so rather than buying from unknown place on ebay, I am giving my business and money to Sonic.
