Kicker CX300.1 (12CX300.1)
600W Max CX Series Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier

Kicker CX series amplifiers were designed by Kicker's expert audio engineers to bring you plenty of clean RMS power for even the most demanding system. Kicker engineered these amps to be ultra compact, meaning there won't be any monsterous amps that you have to design your system around, they'll fit just about anywhere. The CEA-2006 compliant CX300.1 puts out up to 300 watts of RMS power and is compatible with the Kicker CXARC remote bass controller.

Kicker CX Amps are Incredibly Compact Ultra-Compact Footprint

The Kicker CX300.1 will fit just about anywhere, whether you want to install it discretely under a seat, hide it in the back of your trunk or mount it somewhere else. This compact amp measures just over 7" wide, 8" deep and comes in at just over 2" tall. With a footprint this small, Kicker optimized the circuit layout for the most efficient use of components possible.

Kicker CX Amps Can be Mounted Nearly Anywhere Mount Anywhere

To take full advantage of the compact footprint, Kicker includes mounting hardware which gives you the option of vertically mounting your CX300.1 amplifier. With this hardware, you can install the amplifier nearly anywhere in your car, whether you're looking for an inconspicuous and out-of-the-way installation or want to mount your amp to show it off.

Kicker CX Amps Feature High Quality Components Staggering Technology

Beneath the high-mass, super cooling UV protected aluminum heatsink Kicker included double-sided fiberglass circuit boards, incredibly efficient Litz-wound transformers and TO218 output devices which provide high-current switching. Externally, the CX300.1 features buffered RCA outputs, noise-shielding metal-end panels and custom tooled power connectors.

Power Specifications - Subwoofer Channel

RMS Power @ 4 ohms
The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far. If the final impedance of your speaker(s) or subwoofer(s) equals 4 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound. The 5th channel on these particular amplifiers are usually dedicated for driving subwoofers.
150 watts x 1 channels
RMS Power @ 2 ohms
The RMS power rating is the measure of continuous power that an amplifier can output, or a speaker can handle. It is the most accurate depiction of real, continuous power that the industry has so far. If the final impedance of your speaker(s) or subwoofer(s) equals 2 ohms, this is how much power this amplifier will supply at that ohm level. The higher the RMS wattage, the more clean and loud your music will sound. The 5th channel on these particular amplifiers are usually dedicated for driving subwoofers.

Amplifier Specifications

Amplifier Series
This designates the series of the amplifier. Many amps are available in a litany of different wattage and channel configurations, but maintain consistent features throughout the product line.
CX (Kicker)
Amplifier Class

An amplifier increases the power of the signal being fed to it by taking energy from its power supply and matching the signal but increasing its amplitude. Amplifiers use many different methods for converting these electrical signals and have been categorized into classes.

Class A/B: Greater than 50% of the input signal is amplified while the other percentage is “off”. These amplifiers have a small amount of current flowing through the output transistors all the time which almost eliminates crossover distortion. Class A/B has great sound quality but is not as efficient as class D. These amps are most commonly used to drive speakers.

Class D: Also known as switching amplifiers, class D amps have output transistors that are completely turned “on” or “off”. This means that when the transistors are on, there is almost no voltage across them but when they are off there is significant voltage but no current flowing through it which makes these amplifiers very efficient at the cost of sound quality. These amps are most commonly used to drive subwoofers.

Other Classes: You may see classes such as GH, bD, X, FD, etc. by some manufactures. These amplifiers tend to be either class A/B, D or a hybrid of the two but with improvements to their designs that can make them more efficient or offer better sound quality.

D
Number of Channels
Each channel on an amplifier will power one speaker using a positive and negative cable. There are various types of amplifiers, each designed to power a certain number of speakers. Monoblock amplifiers, also known as single channel, are designed to power one or more subwoofers. These amplifiers often have very high power ratings. On the other hand, multi-channel amplifiers power multiple speakers, usually at lower power ratings. 2-Channel and 4-Channel amplifiers can power car speakers or low powered subwoofers. Occasionally you might see a 5 or 6-channel amplifier that can power speakers and subwoofers at the same time. The most common setup is a monoblock amp to run subwoofers and a 4-channel amp to run door speakers. Check out our Knowledge Base for more information.
1 - Mono
Total Peak Power Output
The total peak power output is measured as the wattage per channel multiplied by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

It is measured during a brief musical burst, such as a sudden drum accent. Some manufacturers display peak power ratings on the face of their products to increase the appeal.

The RMS power rating is more accurate, and we recommend using it for product comparison.

600 watts
Total RMS Power Output
Total RMS power is measured by multiplying RMS power per channel by the number of channels, and is calculated at the lowest level of operating impedance.

RMS power is the amount of continuous power, measured in watts, that an amplifier produces is called RMS power. The higher the RMS figure, the louder and cleaner your music sounds.

The RMS output figure is much more accurate than the peak rating when comparing products.

300 watts
Maximum Input Gauge Size
This is the largest gauge wire that will fit into the power and ground terminals of this device. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire is. For example, a 4 gauge wire is thicker than an 8 gauge wire and thus has higher current carrying capacity. Always do your best to get this size wire to reduce the risk of damage to your components.
8 AWG
Minimum Impedance Unbridged
The lowest impedance the amplifier will handle when it is not bridged.
2 ohms
THD at Rated RMS Power
The amount of change in harmonic content of the signal as it is amplified. A lower figure indicates less change and a more accurate amp. THD below 0.10% is inaudible.
0.1%
Speaker Level Inputs
Speaker level inputs are commonly referred to as high-level inputs and vice versa. This input type allows you to get your audio signal directly from the speaker wire in your vehicle, instead of using RCA cables. The advantage of this is factory integration, as most stock radios do not have RCA outputs to run amplifiers.
Optional (Requires Accessory Adapter)
Preamp Outputs
Many amplifiers are equipped with RCA preamp outputs which pass the original music signal from the source to additional amplifiers. This is known as daisy chaining because the source connects to the first amp, and the first amp connects to the second amp, etc. The advantage to daisy chaining is you only need one 2-channel RCA cable to transfer the signal from the head-unit to the amplifier, and then one additional cable for each amp being daisy chained.

Built-in Crossover

A crossover is a type of filtering system that permits only certain frequencies to play. A Low-Pass (LP) crossover allows only frequencies below its setting to get through which is good in the case of some subwoofers. A High-Pass(HP) filter allows frequencies above its setting to pass through, this is normally used on speakers.

When a crossover is set to FULL it means no filtering is added and the full frequency spectrum is allowed through the amplifier. Filtering is important because feeding a speaker frequencies it cannot reproduce effectively creates distortion.

Low-Pass (LP)
Low-Pass Crossover Frequency
The low-pass crossover frequency is typically used for subwoofers. It can be a fixed crossover point or a variable crossover range. A variable low-pass crossover allows you to select a specific crossover point which allows frequencies below the set crossover point to pass, while making frequencies above the set point gently or harshly roll-off, depending on the steepness of the slope.

The steepness of the roll-off slope is measured in dB/octave and refers to the rate of attenuation (lowering of volume) outside their pass bands.

50 - 200 Hz
Bass Boost
The objective of the bass boost is to get more kick out of your subwoofer. It is a circuit that emphasizes the lower frequencies at a given point. The bass boost should always be set first before setting the gain. This feature is known for destroying subwoofers and is commonly used incorrectly, so be cautious.
0 - 12 dB
Bass/Gain Remote
If the amp comes with a bass/gain remote you will be able to control the level of your bass from your dashboard. Typically bass remotes also include a 16-20 ft. wire for installation.
Optional (Accessory required and sold separately)
Strappable
Some amplifiers can be "strapped" together in order to increase the output of a single audio channel. These amplifiers feature RCA preamp outputs, allowing you to pass the signal directly from one amp to the other to ensure consistency.
No
CEA-2006 Compliant
Amplifiers that have been tested to meet specific standards. When a car amplifier meets these standards, you can be sure that it will be able to produce the amount of power specified by the official CEA-2006 rating. Usually, these rating consist of the following items:
  • RMS Power
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio

This rating applies to both external car amplifiers, as well as the amplifiers inside of in-dash stereos.

Yes
Sonic Certified Amplifier
Sonic Certified amplifiers have been tested by the experts at Sonic Electronix to meet or exceed the wattage ratings provided by the manufacturer. If this is marked as Yes, then you can trust the wattage ratings. If marked as No, then we have tested the amplifier and it did not meet the advertised wattage ratings. If marked as Not Tested, then the Sonic Electronix experts have not yet been able to test the amp.

Kicker 300 Watt Class D Sub Amp

April 25, 2014

I have been very pleased, so far, with this amp. The Connectors are of Very Good Quality. The Unit is Small and easy to fit under my Seat. I have not Tuned my System yet, as I need to replace the Factory Speakers and don't want to do it all over again. It is definitely added the Bottom End to my System without any Tweeking. I play my System as loud as I can without causing much Distortion. After driving to or from work, I've touched the Amplifier to see how warm it is. It is Cold. Not Cool, but Cold. I'm running Two 4 Ohm Sub Voice Coils in Parallel for a Two Ohm Load. I am very impressed. The only Negative, if you can call it that, is that my Stereo has only 1 Sub Out, but the Amp has Two Inputs. I had to add a "Y" to feed both Inputs. (Without the "Y", the Amplifier was noticably Lower in Volume.) I am very happy with this purchase.

This tiny little amp really puts out a good amount of power. As always with kicker it's cleaaaaan. I ended up wanting more watts in the end but this is a very high quality amplifier.

Not the most featured amp but it performs well in tight spaces. Gets warm but not hot.

Pretty decent so far...

December 16, 2015

Installed and paired it with the Polk Audio DXi1201 sub which handles the exact power that this amp puts out. Seems to be perfect mach.

Anyways a little advice: if your head unit has a dedicated sub output and sub controls built in (x-over frequency and gain output) set the gain on this amp to the middle, crossover frequency about 1/3 the way up, and bass boost about a hair up from 0. Use your HU's sub controls to tune it in and save yourself the backache from going back and forth from the amp to the HU trying to tune it in.

This amp is simple to use and an excellent compact size. I ran it to a Kenwood 12" and it sounds great! Loud enough for me.
I am going to try and hook up an old Rockford Fosgate 10" and see if there's a difference.

January 24, 2016

i used this speaker for my 2010 lexus & its perfect.. I thought this amount of wattage would kill my battery, & it didnt. The deep bass of this speaker is nice & dont be fooled by the size of this small speaker because it produced LOUD bass. I would recommend this to anybody

Would this amp match up well with a Kicker 40CWRT672 (dual voice coils) with 2 ohm impedance?
Josh W on Sep 15, 2014
Best Answer: Hello Josh,

YES! Perfect match! The Kicker CompRT672 is a Dual-2ohm subwoofer asking for ~150w RMS. Being a Dual-2ohm, your options are to wire down to 1ohm or up to 4ohms. Obviously, you will want to wire in SERIES up to 4ohms, to get the proper 150w RMS from the amp. DO NOT WIRE ANY OTHER WAY! YOU WILL NOT, MAGICALLY, GET ANY MORE POWER. Repeat; you must wire in Series to a 4ohm final load.

I have 2 subs- 125 watts at 4 ohms each. Im wiring them parallel to get 2 ohms with combined 250 watts. Will the Kicker CX300.1 work? I see it is 300 watt RMS which will work, correct? I do see its also 600 peak watts. Safe? Iv been doing my research but need to double check with pros. Thanks.
A shopper on Sep 1, 2014
Best Answer: Hello,

Assuming your subs are Single-4ohm (or you have two Dual-2ohm subs individually wired up to 4ohms), then YES this is a great match, and is safe. It will NOT Void your warranty as long as you practice restraint and don't blow the subs. We often slightly overpower our setups, in order to reach the potential of the subs well before the potential of the amp - which will stress the amp if it were the other way.

I have dual clarion subs in a box, that i got around the year 2000. they are 1000watts, but i need help in finding an amplifier to go with them??. i dont know much about the subs, but whatever i do know, i wrote in down in the question. if someone has the info, plz respond to this. thank you :)
karan on Aug 20, 2014
Best Answer: First you'll have to find out more info on your subs, you need to know if there single or dual voice coils; svc or dvc. If you bought the box premade you should be able to find out online but, if someone built the box you'll have to open it to check.... From there you can get the model numbers, look them up and find out there ohms and wattage. This info will determine how to wire your subs and which to buy then it's up to you to decide your budget... I would be more than happy to help you find an amplifier once you do some leg work and get the info above!

I'm planning to buy JBL GT-X1200 or JBL CS1200WSI Subwoofer, both the woofers are 1200 Watts SVC. Will this Amp go good for any one of those sub woofer or shall I go with Kicker CX300.1?

Kicker CX300.1
Kicker CX600.1
Kicker CX600.1
Best Answer: Go for the Kicker CX300.1. You said you were only buying one of those subs. the Peak power on those subs is an irrelevant number because those subs powered up to 1200 watts results in you blowing the sub 1/1000 milliseconds later. The RMS power is all that matters because thats the power that is necessary to operate the sub. Since both subs are 300 watts RMS power, You will need to get the Kicker CX300.1 because the Kicker CX600.1 will blow the sub. Both of these amplifiers start at 4 ohms. The Kicker CX300.1 is 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms, and 300 watts RMS at 2 ohms. When you buy either of those subwoofers, they will be at 4 ohms. Your amplifier will need to be wired for 2 ohms that way your sub will receive enough power from the amplifier. All in all, the Kicker 300.1 is the perfect match for either of those JBL subwoofers.

How do I bridge the 300.1 it has 4 speaker hook ups witch 2 do I ?
Allen H on Aug 28, 2015
Best Answer: The Amplifier has Connections for Two Speakers, but they are only for Convenience. They both connect to the Same Place on the Amplifier. If you have One Speaker, use One of the "+" and One of the "-" Terminals - it doesn't matter which as long as One is "+" and the other is "-". In my case, I have a Dual Voice Coil Sub, so I connect each Voice Coil to it's own Screws on the Amplifier. I could have connected them to the same Screws, but it is more convenient this way. Just make sure you feed Music into BOTH Left and Right Inputs. Otherwise, only 1/2 of the Amplifier will be making Power and you will get much less Power from the Amp. I use an RCA "Y" Adapter at the Amplifier since my Stereo has only One Sub Output. The "Y" plugs into Both RCA Input Jacks on the Amplifier and the RCA Cable from my Deck goes into the "Y".

Hello, I really need help. I bought a 12" kicker comp with a 500 watt peak and 150 RMS. I am going to buy a 680 watt 8 gauge wiring kit and need help finding an amp. Will this be a good amp for the setup? If not can I get an amp model number that will work for this? Any help will be great, Thank you!

Best Answer: If u wire in a 4 ohm way yes. If u run a 2 ohm then u have to remember not to put to much into the sub or u will blow it. And don't forget to break in the sub. 8 gauge should be fine just remember that u will have to upgrade the wire if u ever plan to expand in future. If so save the time and put the 4 gauge in to begin with. use quality name brand OFC wire

I will be installing this amplifier under the front seat more than likely and using the high level input. My plan is to tap into a front speaker for the high level signal. When doing this, do I need to split the front speaker wire into a L and R RCA or can I use just a signal RCA as the input for the subwoofer amp?
Rob H on Jan 25, 2016
Best Answer: This Amp is designed to use RCA Inputs. You should use a "Speaker Level to RCA Level Adapter" from the Speaker Wires to the Amp. You may have Issues if you don't do this, including damaging the Head Unit.

If you only connect 1 RCA, you will only drive 1/2 of the Amp. You could use a "Y" and connect to both RCA's on the Amp, but you will be depending on the Music having All Bass on that one Channel. It would be Best to use Both Front Speaker Wires into the Adapter and then "Y" them into the Amp so you will use All the Bass from Both Channels into Both Channels of the Amp. To do this you would use 1 "Y" to Connect Left RCA to Right RCA from the Adapter and then another "Y" to "Split" the 1 New RCA into 2 RCA's for the Amp.

I have two 150RSM watt 4 OHM kickers each rated at 300 watts. They are SVC and wired at 2OHMs I have a 4 gauge kicker wiring set already in my car. Will this amp work?
Frederic F on Dec 24, 2015
Best Answer: Yes it should work fine. Be careful with your gain and bass boost because the amp will be producing more power than your subwoofers require. Just make sure that your final impedance to the amp is 2 ohms.

How can I wire my Kicker - CX Series 300W Class D Mono Amplifier with Variable Low-Pass Crossover onto my Kicker - TCompS10 10" Single-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer to produce the 300rms watts onto the sub?
Juan B on Nov 18, 2015
Best Answer: Hello,
Sadly, you can't. Since the sub only has one voice coil with resistance set at 4ohms, you have to wire it directly to the amp. If you had 2 of those subs, then you could wire them like a daisy-chain (amp to first sub, then first sub to second sub) which would drop the ohm load to 2ohms, therefore pulling 300watts from the amp.

Can I use the cx300.1 to power a kicker 10" compRT 2ohm loaded enclosure as the max the amp puts out is 300watts at 2ohm and the sub is 400watts?
shaun v on May 7, 2015
Best Answer: Hell Shaun,

For future inquiries, please provide a model number to the product(s) you are referencing. It seems that you are referring to ,possible, the TCWRT102 . If so, then the CX300.1 is perfect for that driver. Although its potential is 400w RMS, it is able to handle 100~500w RMS from a proper amplifier; the CX300.1 is a Proper amplifier! =]

will this work 2 rockford fosgate r2sd2-10 and does 300x1 @ 2ohms mean each channel?
james m on Nov 17, 2015
Best Answer: Hello James,

Work (?), Yes. Your second question leads us to the 'why', so we'll answer that next: The Kicker CX300.1 is a MONOblock amplifier; where 'mono' means ONE, which implies it is ONE channel. As specified in the description, the amplifier has "Dual speaker terminals [to] simplify the hookup of multiple speakers" . That doesn't mean they are 'channels', they are just outputs, which means they come together within the amplifier, like a monoblock should. So, if you wire the two Rockford Fosgate R2SD2-10 in series , and give each one its own OUTPUT , then the amplifier will see a 2ohm load. OR you can wire the two subs TOGETHER, in series/parallel, then only use ONE PAIR of terminals at the amp and that too will give you a 2ohm load. NETHER METHOD IS "BETTER" THAN THE OTHER, it is the same thing.

At 2ohms the amplifier is providing 300 watts x 1 chan. <-- like it says in the description, so EACH subwoofer will get ~150w RMS. The subs are have a recommended power range of 100 - 200 watts RMS, so the amplifier will be a find choice.
